This year should be very interesting indeed.

They will be discussing about the new eighth generation mid engine Corvette, which we will have seen about a week before in NYC.

GM has still not acknowledged the C8 even exists. The sole reason for the Bash was to show and discuss the next years car.

I also believe it could be revealed at NY and be at the Bash one week later. Jonny Lieberman (Motortrend) in a recent podcast mentioned that they’re waiting on the weather, May or something, for an event at VIR. That would dovetail with a mid-late April reveal.

Its going to have to be right before the bash or maybe the bash itself otherwise the Bash will be worthless this year without a new car to show.

Actually, Mark Reuss did...by name (C8)

If the reveal occurs prior, it will be a very exciting Bash! If not, you will have first hand exposure to the 'Special Edition' and 'European Final Edition' models.

Couple years for a Z06. Not sure it was a GM Effort.

I've got to think the reveal will be before the Birthday Bash. It's the 25th Anniversary for the Bash. It would be perfect timing.

Michael A 02-07-2019 01:44 AM

They will discussing an update to the navigation system.

Johnny is a very good source for information of future cars. He gets the scoop from all the big manufacturers, and he's trusted enough to have been invited to drive prototypes by Lamborghini and provide feedback on on a plethora of cars. Considering that publications like MT get info weeks or months in advance in order to write articles for magazines and reveal dates, it would be no surprise if Johnny has already seen the C8.

The event at VIR is likely a prototype drive, much like Chevy did with the ZR1 at WIllow Springs. They teased the prototype drive videos with a short clip of the ZL1 lapping Willow, but it was just a view looking forward from within the "Flowtie". All you heard was supercharger whine. I wonder if they'll do a similar teaser for the C8, possibly from the PDR cam...

Redc8z06 02-07-2019 10:04 AM

They could talk about the new 2019 Chevrolet Corvette Drivers Series.

And the C7 ‘Final Edition’ .

Yea but the Bash was designed around introducing the next model year not the current cars with new colors/stickers. That's what the auto shows are for.

I'm sure they will display and talk about the 'new' 2020 C7..... most likely some more 'Special Editions'.....

Hopefully they will show something with more substance than the 'Drivers Editions' and the European 'Final Edition'..... We'll see.....

Jeff strausser asked me if I was going to the bash this year back at Carlisle. I said possibly.

his words "you'll be very glad if you do"

that was subsequent asking him questions about the car they cant talk about lol.

I still think NYIAS is going to be the unveiling. Told by people who have SEEN the car, the accessories the seat options etc via their status in the business. Interestingly though the drivetrain remained hush hush. Wouldnt even discuss it or open the cover.

I always go to spend time with good Corvette friends. Anything beyond that is nice icing on the cake.

tooold2race 02-07-2019 03:43 PM

We bought our first new Corvette because of the performance and value that it offered. Since that time decades ago, we've bought over a dozen more because of the people we've met along the way. I'm sure that is the main reason why most people go to the 'Bash' and other Corvette gatherings around the country.
