L82 rebuild break in

Howdy all, about to get my '74 back with a rebuilt L82 motor. Any advice on proper break in of the rebuilt L82...oil, miles, etc?

Did they break in the cam?
If they did......just run it 2/3rds to 3/4 load for a few hundred miles on and off....a few WOT passes to seat the rings in good.
Drop the oil at 500 miles and cut open the filter to inspect.....if all is well, add your flavor of the week oil with some ZDDP additve and have fun.

Thank you Jebby, for the quick reply, and the good advice. Especially like the WOT part. :) I'm new to the Forum, and I must say it is...fantastic!

We used the Joe Gibbs Driven Break In oil for the 1st 1000 miles then switched to 20W-50 Valvoline VR-1 on my 78 L82

Summit Racing, Jegs, Apex and others, who sell crate engines, had pretty good, common sense break in guidelines for crate motors.
