#1686 Not perfect but close
 

I copied this from my other post to get some response about the fiber issues and to let others know what to be looking for. Thanks for all the comments, I was torn on the color. The silver just looks good in all lighting and has a great paint flop. WGG, EB, and white were my other choices. The other silver car I own had something to do with it to.
I love the car. 99% satisfied so far.
But here are the issues and they are all carbon Fiber related.
#1 Wing has a small crack in the tip of the wing.-Dealer is ordering a new wing
#2 Divers side upper fender vent is poorly fitted as compared to the passenger side- Dealer checking on how its mounted and if the two sections are glued. Body Shop looking into it, Dealer fixing it either way.
#3 Same type of clear coat crack of bad fiber joint that caused the clear to crack.

The panel fitment is pretty good on the front upper hood area- the lower bumper to fender is OK- But I'll looking into adjusting that if possible.

For a little perspective, It took 3 years to build that 72 with my son and If I counted my labor in it It would easily approach the cost of a Zo6 maybe even the Zr1. I mention that because even after all the $$$ and attention that car got it did not turn out perfect. Not to mention no warranty of any sort. My plans are to fix the issues, protect it as best I can and drive it like i stole it until the wheels fall off!

Side Note-I will say that after waiting for a very long time (14 months from when I decided to purchase one to delivery), watching all the craziness on the forum about it and the fact that so many cars arrived with bigger issues than mine. I was getting burnt out on the whole thing.There is something to be said for waiting too long for something.....I think the excitement is replaced with anxiety. I doubt I'll ever go thru this process again. I'll just be patient and wait.Just curious if others have this take on a long wait for something like this?

My large wing was damaged before it was packed and shipped, I happened to be there when they opened the box, the box was perfect, the wrapping was perfect, if you saw how it was packed they could have dropped it out of a plane and it would have been ok, but yet the wing had a marked where it was bumped into something before packaging, new one was ordered early Dec. Yep problems suck

These are plastic cars and sometimes hard to get the seams to line up perfect,

The fit and finish on these cars is unacceptable for a $50K car let alone a $150K car. My C7 Stingray had more issues than any of my C5s ever had. The issue is that the car is busy... lots of hard edges and lines that make panel alignment less forgiving. Also, the cars just snap together i.e. the bumpers. There's no way to screw on the bracket and then adjust. The brackets screw to the fender and the bumper snaps on. Once it's on it's on w/o some major work to get it off so they don't fine tune them at all on the line. To remove the bumpers the factory manual specifies a nylon wedge tool and a flat blade to "release the tabs". It's very tedious. Some turn out OK some are off. With the C5 you could install the bumper, fit it, then tighten the nuts. Not so on the C7s.

The fenders to door gaps are all over the place. Seeing carbon fiber like that is sad... GM's supplier is in NC; DeBotech (http://www.debotech.com/news/Meet-th...bobsleds/59766). They can barely keep up with the demand for these exposed parts and are obviously letting less-than-perfect items out the doors. I tried to buy a sctach and dent ZR1 wing from them direct and they told me "We don't have any defective product, we fix anything that is not acceptable out of the molds". As for the underside of your carbon fiber quarter panel inlet.... all of the display cars at Carlisle that had the CF parts had that raw dull underside; especially at the joint of the two parts.

^^^^ I’m not really concerned that it’s not finished underneath. More concerned that it doesn’t fit properly and is up almost a quarter inch as compared to the passenger.

I see the gap at the front "tip" now. When I installed regular plastic/painted Z06 ones on my Stingray you had to hold the piece down and tighten it in a certain order for it to lay in the quarter the best. Under the part there are 3 studs; one fixed, two in slots. You needed to tighten the fixed one first, then hold the part flush allowing the slotted ones to find position then tighten. Spec is a minuscule 18 in/lbs because the studs are in plastic. If you do the slotted one first the part can have a bow in it. That really wouldn't apply to yours which are solid carbon.

127 miles and check engine...Probably a loose connector on a sensor. On star says it’s emission sensor error.

ughh. Sure it's nothing other than a day wasted at the dealer.

Well at Least my dealer gives out loaners- maybe a used Zo6....

Honestly great car, but thats brutal workmanship, how does that get through a inspection.....

i totally agree- isn’t there somebody at the end of the line that looks these things over. Again my issues are few but GM should make sure these come off the best they can be.....I just wonder if the C8 will be more of the same. You know I realize it’s not s Bugatti
but 150k isn’t chump change either and it would have been so easy for GM to have fixed the spoiler and vent at the factory before I ever saw it. Now there is a whole process with god knows how many people involved and a hassle for me. I am not upset that it’s has some flaws, frustrated that I have to call them out on it!!!
