Headers and check engine lights
Has anyone found a 100% solution for not getting a check engine light when running headers? I've seen some posts more on the z06 forum that guys are running a 90 degree extension and the green cats and typically keeps it off. What are guys doing here that are running headers? I'd rather not run cats but I get the impression its not possible to do so and not have a check engine light. First hand experience would be great. TIA

I am running headers with the 90 degree extension and a single green cat on each side. Throw codes periodically - typically after startup. I purchased the bluetooth IOBD2 and just clear the code when it comes up. Not ideal (prefer no codes), but also not a big deal.
BTW, the sound of the beast REALLY comes alive with headers and Xpipe! |

Kook's - see if I can record a clip this weekend.

Thank you. That was the impression I was getting with doing this. Would you say it takes a couple hundred miles before it comes on or is it more frequent? How was the install of the headers? Any weird issues or pretty straight forward?

Here is a cold start. Short video, file size restrictions. Try to get a better one later.

Man, you were gonna break the camera with all that sound wave

More frequent. 1-2 times on every drive. Had a shop do the install. No problems that I know of.

Thank you for the information. It sounds like a can go no cats and have the same results then. Usually the faults are a two trip cycle. Did you notice a good power gain? I’m sorry about all of the questions but very few seem to have done them yet or are willing to speak up.

There is an apparent power gain. Certainly can feel it. Have not had time to do a follow up dyno yet. Did the Weapon X 900 package. Let’s just say that traction control comes in at 70mph when I jump on it.
