87 ECU tuning
 

Looking for guidance to tune my 87 ECU. Nothing fancy, I just want to delete the O2's and whatever performance gains are possible otherwise.

What's best?

I've done it. Takes a lot of time and most of the sites with information are dead now. Here is a quick over view.

First you need to remove the Memcal (EEprom and repetitive network) It's in the ECM. You need to read the binary information stored in the EEPROM chip. To do this you need a EEPROM programmer, I use MiniPRO TL866CS. (to read the Memcal you will need a Memcal readout Header). Once you get the binary file you need to get a dis-assembled file, which gives the address of where to program information is for O2 sensor is. ( I'm not sure you can remove the O2 sensor information).

You use a Hex editor to modify the values of you ECM image, load the hex file in the programmer and then modify your EEPROM information on the chip.

Use tunerpro or tunercat, go to their web sites and all you need will be there.

Why delete the O2? If you are doing WOT, it doesn't even read the O2.

There's only one O2 sensor and why would you want to delete? It's what keeps the engine mixture where it needs to be. It will run like crap without it.

For a pure race car, it isn't bad. For a street car, probably not.
