Oil filter torque - 3 quarter turn vs 22 ft lb

Manual says 3 quarter turn but I have seen online some say 22 ft lb.

i have a gt350 which also requires high torque so i have experience torquing these very high and have had no issues after 11 oil changes but i thought i would clarify.

Interesting!! I've never really thought about it but makes sense..

I once bought a vette in Oklahoma and drove it to Tennessee. I changed the oil the next day. When I put the wrench on the drain plug the weight of the wrench turned the plug! I reached up to the filter and it, too, was hand loose! It had come all the way to Tennessee with no problems. Just make sure the old rubber gasket did not stay with the engine when removing old filter and be sure to put a film of oil on the new one to make sure the rubber doesn't kink. Go snug at 3/4 turn after contact and I don't think you will ever have a thing to worry about. I have yet to loose seal in boats, airplanes, cars and bikes.

Tightened by hand 3/4 of a turn once gasket contacts block surface. Works every time and you don't need to fuss with a torque wrench.
Been doing following those directions for decades on GM cars.

Remember folks, you heard it here second. It's not you, Bill. I just get a kick out of the responses my username gets! :D

Delco filters show +3/4-1 turn from gasket contact. However FSM does spec 22 lbs. My reading says 22 lbs is nearly 1.5 extra turns or 2.5 turns from gasket contact.
