Fuel Display

Last weekend I went to top off the gas tank and all was fine. I like to start and run it once a week so today it started right up but after a few minutes realized gas level wasn't displayed. Shut it off and turned key back to run position and it showed proper level, but when restarted level was again blank. Any ideas?

Post the year and we can help.

Car year would help but it could be that the sending unit in the gas tank has gone bad. The unit is attached to the fuel pump assembly and you can buy a replacement and install it easily. You will need to remove the fuel pump assembly to get to the sending unit. I had to buy one for my '93 and I got an AC Delco unit from Amazon.

Sorry about no year, it's a 91.

Here's a writeup on how to test and troubleshoot the fuel sending unit from Frizlefrak:
