Coupe or convertible....

My preference is convertible, Even if it's a rubber bumper C3. They just look cool. If it has a hard top that's just bonus points. C2's convertibles do nothing for me unless the hard top is on. Love C2 coupes though. I have no interest in C1's of any kind.

Also have no interest in C4, C5 or C6. C7 coupe or convertible is absolutely beautiful in any configuration.

Have to throw this out there too, don't like 65 through 70 Mustang convertibles. Fast back Mustangs are way cool.

What is the point of this post?
Are you shopping for a car?
Or do you just want everyone to be aware of very popular cars that you don't like?
:crazy2:

Just doing a discussion man. If you have nothing to contribute on preferences with C1 to C7 corvettes move along to the next thread.

I owned a new 1977 C3. T-tops, was the only way they were made starting in 1975 or 76. :ack: Hated em.

..I'm back in a convertible C7!!

Skid...this is the discussion I was looking for. VERY nice C7. You should be very proud of her. C7 in white!!!! Love that car. I have a 16 C7 Z.

Partial to C3 coupes for obvious reasons. However, C3 verts are beautiful cars. C6 and C7 ragtops are sharp cars, as are the coupes.
I agree that C2 hardtops are hard to beat (as they are with the top down), but I may like the coupe just as much.
C1s are Classic, coupe or convertible.
C4s and C5s I find are equally stunning in coupe or vert. So the choice there is a difficult one.

No opinion on Mustangs.

;)

I have hair.

At 57 I'm growing hair long while I can.

Removing my '81's T-Tops, not only risks damage to the tops, it does nasty things to my hair at speed. I will not where a baseball cap, my wife forbids it. So if I want to take the T-tops down, never mind a vert, I'd have to get a haircut.

These first world problems can make a guy crazy....

Had '68 and '69 verts. Did not drive top down very often. I hate sitting in the sun. Hard to beat on a perfect evening though. When it was time to buy a new '15 I didn't consider a ragtop.

Agree on Mustangs, three fastbacks are waiting for my attention.

I have a fairly specific prejudice, I only love C3 chrome bumper coupes. Fell in love with them in 68 when they came out and saw them on Woodward ave, Gratiot ave, Telegraph rd. I grew up just outside Pontiac, MI.
Don't really care for any of the other years/models of vettes. For me its all about the lines of the car. Nothing against the others, they just don't do anything for me, not before, not since

This discussion would be on CFOT, if it weren't actually related to Corvettes.

I've done the convertible thing, and did a lap of the country in one (7500 miles). I wouldn't kick a C7 convertible out of the garage, that white one is beautiful.

But I really like the T-Top C3s. If I could build a 69 coupe with 79-82 interior, that might be the perfect restomod. In the meantime, the view from the cockpit is at least as important as the looks of the car, so bubble window coupe.

I have no use for any other generation until now. The C7s look great, but they are not small cars.

Thank you gentlemen for your input. I love Corvettes however specific years and configurations. Any other opinions?

OK, you have my curiosity. Which three?

I've had this '72 vert since '97. My next Vette will be much newer and a coupe. I may want to do some HPDE/Track days and they frown on verts.

Odd ones, '67 , '69, '71. Although I'm not a real open car fan there are a couple that I like in spite of their openness. For C3s I'll take a '68-'72 and pull out the rear window.

:iagree:

I have a 67 (A/C) coupe, 71 and 72 coupe and an 85 coupe. (all cars have A/C. that works)

There is nothing like taking the back window out , droping the side windows and driving - sometimes at night I take the T tops off and cruse - don't like the hot sun... I like the C3's the best, it's the best of both worlds.

The 85 I have the spacer for the rear window - even though the A/C works ..(383 worked with a 6 speed)

Amen
Have you noticed how much better the A/C works with the rear window removed?? Creates a vacuum of sorts for a cool wind tunnel I suppose.

Me and the 77 C3, in 77. .

RE: My new C7 vert: .Thank you. Yours sounds nice too! Thank God I took my time in considering how I wanted my new C7, equpped. I came to my senses and realized I never wanted to jack with a silly top again, in going convertible! The verts are quieter too vs the hatchback, with top up.

71 Vert LS1 02-09-2019 09:22 PM

So I had a 72 C3 vert. I did a LS/4L60E swap and it was a great swap. So many great comments on the car from non-car folks. Having said that many people that had a clue or didn't did not like my LS/T56 swap into my 1999 BMWE36 vert. It is a great swap. Just think of a 1999 BMW M3 with 400 rwhp with tons of low end torque. But some folks aren't just very bright.

The C3 was very cool. Biggest problem was lack of storage space with the top down. A year ago last fall we spent a number of summer days and fall days touring around with the top down. Can't beat it.

Hate to say it but we sold the C3 to have what I call a "long distance hot rod" and that is a 2014 Mustang GT 5.0. I'm not a big Ford guy and Camaros were in the hunt but hardtop and convertibles are so hard to see out of.

If I did another chrome bumper C3 it would be a vert. with a luggage rack.

It's the fan - way underpowered. I helped a friend do the C4 fan conversion - big difference.
