Radio question
Is the radio on a 62 supposed to be wired hot all the time?
No.
Ok thanks. I’ll have to see how they have it wired.
It's fused at the fuse box AND switched by the ignition.
There is some reasoning for this, if the radio had full time power and it was left on at low volume with the key removed, the old vacuum tube radio would kill the battery after a time... If your ohmmeter (car battery disconnected) doesn't give you continuity from the radio power lead to the fuse box (yellow line in pic) with the fuse removed for testing, somebody has boogered up the wiring..

Yeah that’s the fun of it,trying to find all the electrical screw ups in a 60 year old car can definitely be challenging. Thanks for your post

You should strongly consider the Dr Rebuild OSOEZ color laminated pictorial schematics - around $24 and have pictures of all the connectors in color and tested on real cars. The original GM schematics had wiring errors..

Yes I have one coming as we speak. It will definitely mak life easier.
Bummer. He doesn't have one for '57s.
