After Market Fuel Tank

G'day All,
Just wondering if anyone knows of a company that produces an oversized fuel tank for C3's?
TIA,
Mark

Try this company. I requested a build for my 78 for EFI intank setup but did not what loose current 24us gal capacity. They said they can make anything I would like. But for you the question is , with a bigger tank will it fit or have space to be mounted.

With the over drive 5 spd it made my gas tank feel bigger. Lol. I have a tanks inc, fuel tank setup for fuel injection. I don't know how much larger of a tank you could really squeeze under there. A little I guess, there is about 6" from the fwd end of the tank to the fiberglass battery/storage box wall. I guess a custom tank could be built to gain a few gallons.

it depends on the year of the car. I believe up to 74 the tank size is similar (smaller). My 78 is a 24 gal tank which you cannot get for most pre 75 cars.
Tanks Inc doesn't make anything for 75-82 C3's.

Stainless steel or alloy ? Alloy fabrication work shops will make whatever size you want ,think boat fabrication businesses, they make tanks in odd shapes to fit under floors in boats .
My friend here has a 200 litre tank in his 74 ,pressure tested and compliance stamped . Has custom mountings and he had to put a beefier spring on the back !

Got to be plenty of boat builders up where you are .

Ricks tanks would be a good phone call. Not inexpensive but their tanks are works of art.

The shipping charge would be horrendous to Australia from the U.S .

Getting one made local would be the cheapest way.

Hi Bazza,
Yes, that's my biggest fear, the cost of shipping! I have just been in touch with Ricks Tanks, said they can make any size I want, so we'll see what they say.
Asked for a quote, including a shipping estimate.

If time is not a concern , try John Cann in Newcastle for shipping, he ships out of orange California

This is a pic of my stock 69 size tank from Ricks set up with an in tank pump. Too pretty to cover! I believe there is room up top for some more volume, and about 6 inches from the front of the tank to the body, but it might make it impossible to get in and out. I am sure Ricks have done an oversized tank for our cars before.

Yes, he is a bit steep, $1060 for the tank + $650 for shipping, that equates to $2223AU and then I have to pay 10% tax when it arrives on the whole amount, not just the purchase price.:ack:
