Non NPP Z06 to NPP
 

I have a 2007 Z06 that came with a magnaflow exhaust. I like the sound of it but on long trips it has a drone that gives me a headache. Does anyone know if I can put a 2008 factory NPP exhaust system in it and make it function properly? I was also looking at the billy boat fusion exhaust, but would prefer to put a stock system in due to it being quieter. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

I did exactly that on a 2006 z06. No issues.

Was that a factory NPP exhaust? What other parts did you need to make the NPP open without a switch?

Yes...factory. Just used the mild to wild remote switch.

All you need is the vacuum line and a solenoid to make the stock NPP exhaust work as the actuators are part of the exhaust. The solenoid is located in the rear by tail lights, so there shouldn't be any reason for the original owner to remove it and it should still be there. The actual opening/closing is controlled by the ECU through the vaccum line and remain closed until the RPMs hit a certain number, around 3500 IIRC. If you want to manually control when the flaps are open/closed, you will need to get something like a Mild To Wild switch.

And just as a technical side note, NPP is the option code for this type of exhaust on a non Z06 Corvette. This exhaust was not an option for the Z06, it was standard. So calling it an NPP exhaust isn't technically correct, it is just called a bi-modal exhaust. But people still refer to it as an NPP exhaust.

I decided to go with the BB Fusions on my 2006 and have been extremely happy with them. In the closed mode, they are just as quiet as the stock exhaust with no drone. But I thought the stock exhaust was too tame in the open mode.

I was under the impression the NPP exhaust wasn't standard on a 2007 Z06. My window sticker has no mention of dual mode exhaust nor does my build sheet. Am I mistaken?

Every year C6Z came with dual mode exhaust.

I was able to crawl up under the car yesterday and found my vacuum connections for the dual mode exhaust.
