National Corvette Museum
 

My first trip to the National Corvette Museum. Every Vette enthusiast should get there at least once.


This is a little video tour of the place. A mix of all generations. Looking down the sinkhole was just eeeerie. What an awesome place!

The museum is a place every Corvette enthusiast should visit. I was there a few months before the sink hole damaged the building and cars.

Going to the Bash for my 3rd visit. The museum is not just for Vette owners but anyone who loves cars. I tell all of my friends to visit when possible. It is fun to ask Mustang owners where their museum is though! Lol. Many years Porsche owners have met at NCM for their national meet...lol. The first time our club went (30) of us rolled in, they parked us on front curb, and the Porsches were out in lot and just kind of looked on as we were center stage.

I was thinking of doing a road trip there in the spring. It's a 10+ hour drive. Worth it?

Like could you spend an entire day there or no?

And did they not fix the sinkhole???

I went to Bowling Green for multiple reasons but still would have gone just for the NCM. I was there in August. It was the same week as the Tri-Five nationals so I was able to double dip on the vacation. I saw the NCM and about 4000 55,56, and 57 Chevys. It was a great week. Unfortunately the Corvette manufacturing plant was closed for tours. I hope it reopens for tours this summer because I plan to return.

If you do go- Across from the museum is a place called Al's. He has about 200 or so classic cars for sale and on display. It is worth a walk-through. Also the Camping World flagship store is in Bowling Green. If you are into outdoors stuff it is worth a visit. Nashville is only an hour away- lot's of interesting things there.

The sinkhole is still there- Jump ahead to 7:07 in the video and you will see what they did. There is a whole, or should I say hole area dedicated to the sinkhole. LoL!

Mid-Engine Since 1970!
 

Thanks for the video..... I note that at 5:34 into the video, there is a shot of the mid-engine concept car, the XP-895, from 1970! So GM had a mid-engine at least as far back as 1970! Hope they have the bugs out by now (for the C8!).......

The sinkhole was fixed long ago. The have a hole with glass over it u can look down, an exhibit about it and a few trashed Vettes. One is so messed up it is tough to tell it was a Vette. Typically you can spend a few hours. Taking some track laps us gun as well. We did touring laps for $40 and we still were tipping around 105 mph on the straights. They have a pace car but he will go as fadt as his followers can handle.

Had a great experience with NCM delivery for my C6. I noticed that there are no C7/raffles currently scheduled, which seems odd.

Been there quite a few times - always something new to catch the eye. Another thing about the museum is it is a great organization to be a member.

I might go every other year so that enough has changed with the museum to warrant another visit. I went last year right before the 4th of July, and it was a great time. The road trip in itself was an experience as well. Random traffic jams, multiple thunderstorms, bright sunny skies and landscapes. Loved all of it :steering:

Agreed. So much money spent there...they had a nice red/black racing polo that I bought during my visit. I also bought every Owner's Manual from the C2 series, amongst other things.
That credit card bill had me like :eek: but it was worth it.

You'll never regret the trip to the NCM, if you're a Corvette enthusiast. If you're picking up your new Corvette there, it'll be the best way of picking up a new Corvette in your life. I was working back East traveling in my coach down I-65, from Louisville, Kentucky to Nashville, Tennessee when I pulled in for a couple hours in 2006. Great place to visit!

It’s well worth the drive from Ontario. We went again this past July, hadn’t been since 2007 so we wanted to see post sinkhole.

My Dad lives in the Smokey Mountains in NC and my sister lives in Philly. Was thinking of visiting them both on the way back and maybe doing the Dragon's Tail on the way to my Dad's place.

Tail of the dragon is on my bucket list. Maybe this summer. :)

I’ve been 3 or 4 times. Twice I think just because, than once for museum delivery and than 5 years ago than just after the sinkhole. I had a tour set up prior, and the guy who gave us our tour was the one who found the room...crazy. He was till emotional about it. I’d like to go back to see some of the recent additions.

I was there 2 weeks after the sink hole opened. They were still pulling cars out

It is the gathering place for all things Corvette!! We have been there a number of times. Before the sinkhole, while it was open and after the repair. For the past 5 years we have done the Vets n' Vettes Event in November. We always have a great time.

By the time I visited, all of the sinkhole vehicles, restored or destroyed, are all on display. They actually did a really good job on restoring the C1 that Big Lebowski posted along with Corvette 1,000,000.
