Advice on this rebuilt 2012 Vette
 

Hi guys, I just found this locally, in Bartlett Illinois. it's a 2012 with 57k miles with a rebuilt title. Apart from the obvious with any hidden or deeper damage are there things to watch out for? Are loan rates higher for a rebuild? I'll contact him for the vin and see if I can find how bad the damage was.

Run away, with your money in your pocket. First thing I see is bumper to hood gap. It might be a good buy. It might be a money pit too that will never be right. Run, run run.

You might want to check on the financing first. I'm not an expert on car loans and haven't had one in 30 years now, but I believe I've read that banks will not loan money if it is a salvage title.

I would check to see if you can get it insured as well.

If you spend $18,900 on this car and then find out it needs $10,000 in engine work, which isn't unrealistic, will you be ok with that? Never buy a car that had the engine modified by somebody you don't know, at least that's MY rule. You have no idea the problems you can have.

You'd be way ahead of the game to find an older car with less miles for $20,000 to $23,000. If this car came from a friend and you knew what was actually done to the car then by all means grab it but you'd be crazy to pay anything more than $10,000 for this car....and at that you might still end up paying retail after it's all said and done.
