Promised Pictures: New Wheels

Hi All,

Here are pictures of my new Z06 replicas from Florida Speed Shop. I think they look very good (and I generally do not like black wheels)!!

There are a few slight imperfections in the wheels - small microscratches, little paint bumps, etc. That being said, however, the quality is still professional, and is more than acceptable for the $540 price for all four!!

As a few of you saw, I had an issue with the the incorrect TPMS sensors installed on the wheels/tires. I ended up going to Discount Tire for new sensors. Unfortunately, I saw them use a metal pry bar to get the tires on the wheels!! No scratches at all... but I suspect the inside of the wheels "behind" the tires are a bit marred (just venting a little!). Oh well, live and learn... I guess.

Thoughts on the wheels and overall look?

How does that equal professional quality. Sorry just not a fan of replica wheels for a corvette (at any price) and your statement proves it.

Looks good, enjoy.....

Professional quality is a spectrum - not simply a "professional" or "not professional" dichotomy. Let's assign it a 1-10 scale, for arbitrary simplicity. If 1 is just above amateur work (spray paint) and 10 is the the industry's best powdercoating, I rate these a 6... maybe a 7. Surely, 3 and 8 are both professional work; there is a substantial variance within what constitutes professional grade. These wheels look very good (I could not even clearly photograph any imperfections), but admittedly are not flawless.

Replicas are good because they provide a factory look (OEM style) with the correct fitment (for example, factory Z06 wheels do not fit well on a base car). The word "replica" has a negative connotation... However, "replica" is not synonymous with low quality. Rather, it means copy, imitation, and the like in regards to style. I opted for Z06 replicas because I wanted a slightly more aggressive look, but with a factory temperament, if you will.

Thanks for your input; undoubtedly, some people would not go for "middle of the road" professional wheels, like these. However, for the price and overall quality, I am satisfied.

As long as you like them you’re good to go!

They look great. Enjoy!

Just my .02, but I think that a lighter color would have looked better. I am a big fan of black wheels, (see my avatar) but yours just seem to blend in too much with the rest of the car. As long as you like them that is all that matters.

Yes, I agree. I really wanted silver or graphite... but, they are only offered in black and chrome.

Maybe I will paint down the line, the next time I need new tires!

Graphite would look great on your car, you could plastidip them to see how you like it beforehand. I am waiting for the tires on my Colorado to wear out so I can have them powder coated black. :yesnod:

Don't be too hard on the tire shop for using a metal bar to install tires. That's probably the only way to get it done.
You say you don't like black wheels but that's what you got.
I personally think chrome or polished would make your black car really stand out.
I've never been a fan of monochrome on cars.
Maybe on lifted pick-ups.

Thanks for the consolation on the metal bar thing.

I got the black because: I for sure do not like chrome wheels, and the price was right! Had silver or gray been offered, I would have gotten those!

It looks pretty good for now, and I will consider painting to a lighter color in the future!

They look good. What i don't like about black wheels is it's hard to see detail unless your up close. I think it would look better with red calipers, like someone said they blend in almost too much. Great price though. I was looking at an '08 vette with chrome [or painted chrome?] wheels and i hated them, would go with something like you did.

I would try to find some black C6 logo center caps, I think that would look great.

AH.....So much diplomacy and political correctness in this forum. Black body paint is the best color for a Corvette to be sure. While black wheels may give one the "sinister" look that so many mills are graving these days, black wheels on such a gorgeous Corvette just seem to cut it short in what it could look like. A nice set of chrome or polished would make that black Corvette look as good as it should......:flag:

To pull off the black look, you need to do a few things to your car ( my opinion only). First lower the car, then add a front splitter, side skirts, and a spoiler. That will give it that look that most want with the black or dark wheels. As it stands now it looks OK, but it just looks like ablack car with black wheels.

They are part of whole package, and shipped separately... awaiting arrival!
