19 and 20 inch tires for Grand Sports
 

What tires have you used with the 19/20 combination cup wheels on your Grand Sport. Where did you purchase them from? The major tire stores in my area cant mount anything that size and couldn't even get the tires .

Where are you located? It would help if we knew so we could give suggestions. But as others have said, look at TireRack.Com and Discount Tire. You’ll see what’s available. I’d also suggest reading the 1000 of tire threads on the forum. Not trying to be a smart ass, it’s a wealth of knowledge.

I have Continental Extreme Contact 285/30/19 & 335/25/20. I find it hard to believe that the tire shops can’t mount tires that size nor order tires as 19 & 20” wheels are OEM sizes for many manufacturers.

Continental and Michelin are the only companies that make tires for those wheels (at present). So, if you're not an authorized dealer for those two brands, you're not going to be selling tires to those customers. Installing? Maybe. Selling? Nope.

Basically, you have the choice of 4 tires. 3 From Michelin and one from Continental. That's it.

As to mounting, those wheels are DEEP. I had a rear flat fixed and it was a major ordeal getting it back on. Once mounted, the rim did not fit on the Road Force Balance Machine without modification, I had to take it to another shop to get it balanced. That is one hella-big offset on those rears.

I am running Nitto Invo's on my Grand Sport 19/20 wheels. So you have more options. Here is their size chart:

I'm doing Michelin Pilot 4S, 285/35/19 & 345/30/20. Can't wait, the old oem run flats need to be gone! Got my new Cup wheels w/ red stripe recently.

NTB can and will do it. Or, have your local dealer do it. Firestone is also capable and can sell you the tires. All of the above will mount your tires if you purchase them elsewhere. This is not a difficult situation. I have found it beneficial to go and talk it through with the manager of the establishment, set an appointment, and finalize all the details.

Dont forget get to tip the guy who actually handles your wheels and mounts the tires.

FYI - NTB in a podunk town outside of New Orleans handled my 19/20 setup in stellar fashion. Wheels are $10k worth of HRE P40’s. Nice job.

Have you worn a set out by chance? I'm wondering how the car tram-lines as the tires wear. Mine is like driving on train tracks now and I'd prefer a tire that acted more like my last set of BFG on my C5. They were nice right to the bitter end. These Michelins my car came with suck donkey *$*%&. I hate em.

I’m running C7 Z06 wheels with 19 and 20 Continental tires. I looked up the size on tire rack and called my local shop that does work on aftermarket wheels and high end cars. They ordered the tires within 1 day. Surely you must have a tire shop that installs custom wheels for people with expensive cars somewhere in town or within driving distance. It’s worth the drive to get it done right with no wheel damage.

I bought a set of Cooper NRF tires from Discount tire direct and i have 0 regrets

I had Nitto INVOs on a previous car. First and foremost, they are not a high performance tire. They have decent grip, but not "drive it like a corvette" level of grip. Theyre a good sporty touring tire overall, quiet and where they really shine is wet performance. I liked them more in the wet than the dry. They didnt have much feedback, and were definitely more of a comfort tire with some sporting to them.

That said, they get shit tire life. I put 15k on them on a daily driver car with onlt 250hp, and by that point they were toasted. I wouldnt expect to get more than 10 to 12k out of them on a vette. The tread on them was wild looking, and they got comments from people regularly about how crazy looking they were. All in all, i would not buy them again personally.
