Rented a C7 Stingray convertible - very impressed

Well I was able to rent a C7 2lt convertible from Enterprise. It was an automatic with 6k miles. I am
not sure if it was a 2018 or 2019, but the car was spotless.

Impressions: I was very surprised at how smooth the ride was, especially over bad roads. I am not sure if it had the magnetic ride control. I played with the various driving modes, but left it in sport most of the time. The car handled really well. In this set-up it would not be a track monster, but for me it was pretty perfect. It was extremely comfortable to drive and had excellent acceleration when I floored it. One thing I did notice was that the automatic was struggling a little to find the right gear. Even in sport mode, it seemed as though unless I floored it, there was not much power. I do not know if this is a function of it being a rental car or typical of the automatic. In manual mode, this did not occur and the car felt very responsive. I test drove a manual the next day and it also was extremely responsive.
The convertible was surprisingly quiet with the top up and relatively quiet with the top down. I was very impressed. The seats were fairly comfortable, but I wish the lumbar could be adjusted higher as it was hitting too low on my back.
The last corvette I owned was a 1984 coupe and clearly this is a vast improvement - to say the least.

In conclusion, I loved the car. There is something about a shiny red corvette that just makes me smile and driving it made me smile even more. When I am ready to purchase I think I will go for a 2lt or 3lt manual convertible. I am still not sure about the color yet, but that torch red seems to be at the top of my list.

My first experience with a C7 was a upgrade at National car rental, from there I was hooked. It wasn't long after that I traded my C6 in for the C7. Not once have I looked back.

Obviously something's wrong with the A8 in the C7 you rented as for all it's reported wows, the A8 shifts like lightening and do not starve for power.

3LT, M7, Convertible here. Best car I've ever owned. You won't regret getting it.

Cliff, here's my opinion, and it is very biased. :) Of course we all know that Red is the fastest color. And, those in the know only drive drop tops. :hide: Good luck on your choice. No matter the style, and type you get I assure you that you will not be disappointed.

Don't let the AFM Active Fuel Management keep you away from a Auto.Simply plug in a Range Device and have 8cylinders Full Time.Like a CORVETTE Should be.
AFM Is a 4 cylinder deactivation to save fuel and have you wonder what the Hell Is going on here.
Great car, even shifting that Auto :steering:
Ohh.. TOPLESS is the Best

Rag Top

Convertible is the only way Corvette was meant to be.

Me, too!

Over thanksgiving, I wanted to rent a Vette for the time in Austin, but holy crap, that's crazy $ !

I'm spoiled, I know, but just could not justify the cost.

Every time I fly someplace, I regret leaving mine behind. :yesnod:

C7 convertible is motoring bliss. It just feels so right.

Coming from a man that owns a blue Vette, yellow is definitely the fastest.

Way cheaper to rent than to buy . . . .

Kevin - you've got a stunning car. Great backdrop for the pic too.

And you're right - doesn't matter if it is a coupe or convertible - the Corvette is pleasure to own and drive.

Agreed. Mine has no problem searching for gears and certainly doesn't lack power.

Beautiful photo. It looks like something that could be a Corvette advertisement.

Meadows of Dan , Va on the parkway

A rental vette without power? my guess would be 'weather mode'. the bet is most renters won't know there are different driving modes and some rental agency is attempting to save their car from wreck.
