May be kind of dumb question....

I have 95 C4. Bought it back in November, and have been tinkering with it since - like identifying an issues(there are few), formulating plans to fix said issues, actually fixing some of these issues, and occasionally actually driving it. LOL

Anyway, I was in side messing with the door panel(fixing the cracked top inner rib), and when I inserted the key and turned it on to lower the widow, my car did something it never did.

It suddenly started to ding its key in chime for split second, and stopped!
In shock, I jiggled the key furiously in panic to try to get it to work again, but is not to be.
It never dinged again.
Defeated, I stopped trying after 20 min or so.
So here is my question. So its obvious that car have key in reminder chime, and that it must have either:
-Lose connection somewhere, or
-Dead/dying key in chime speaker(I presume may be piezo speaker or sort somewhere?)

So do anyone know where the speaker is, and how does it detects key in ignition?

Sounds like the chime module. I replaced the one in my 93 Ruby, and have the scars to prove it. It was up behind the DIC panel. Iremoved the DIC and the radio head and still had to squeeze my fingers in and twist it out.

Must have been part #2 after the heater core. LOL

THanks! I probably not gonna worry about it until I replace the head unit(which I plan to this spring).
You don't happen to have the part number by any chance do you?

Edit:
Is this it?

Looks like that’s the part!

Just checked my Ebay purchase. That is the correct part.

You can’t go wrong with Mirrock for parts. He and his wife are at Carlisle every year. One of the few vendors that have C4 parts

Are they located in PA? Ill drive up if they are near me...

Mirrock is in Saltsburg,PA, about three hour drive West of Carlisle. If I was going to drive for 3 hours, I’d be heading East to Atlantic City for a little R & R in the Casinos. 😀

Before you jump right to the chime module you should check the door ajar switch. It is in the door and you jiggled it/bumped it while messing with the door panel. It is not unusual for them to have bad connections inside.....if the chime module thinks the door is closed because of a bad switch it will never chime.....
