Range Device
I bought a new Range device. I noticed that the blue light remains on after the car is turned off. Is that normal? On my old one when the engine was turned off the light on the range turned off.

The indicator lights on the Range I have ( V8.6.1) turn off when I shut off the car. Sounds like you have a defective unit.

Before I upgraded to the latest software revision the light turned off since the update the blue light stays on after shutting the car off. That said, I don’t know if it turns off at some point.

Oh no! I just ordered a range unit today! I hope they are not having problems with them. Should the lights be off when the car is off?

Car off, light off....on my 17 Z and Denali both.

What's the point of the Range Device if all you have to do is stay out of ECO mode?

I think that's only for a manual transmission.

Hi Joe,
I got mine a couple months ago (blue lights). When the car is off, the lights are off. -- tom |
Why not just call or email Range? :confused2:

and I have no blue light when the engine is off only when the car is running. |
The LED should automatically go out when the car is turned off. Contact range.

I found out that I had to start the car once with it inserted. When I first inserted it the blue light went on and stayed without even trying it out and starting the car. I originally just took it out of the packaging when I got it and went out to garage and installed it. The light came on without ever turning the car on. When I closed the door and came out a few minutes later it was still lit up. I had to go on an errand and when I turned the car off the light went out. It has been running properly ever since that. I guess it just need to cycle once with the car on.
All is proper and good now. Thanks. I had another one, but ran over it the other day! It's a long story. |
Glad it's working OK. Mine makes a world of difference in overall driving.
Speaking of: "I had another one, but ran over it the other day! It's a long story."When my son was a teen he needed coke bottle glasses, + he was a bit of a nerd. With three teens at home and only me working $$ was a little on the thin side. To help the kid out I agreed to buy him some new glasses with a different kind of lenses that weren't coke bottle nerdy. The only problem was they were $600 bucks that was hard to come by back then. He got the glasses and a couple days later he left them on the hood of his friends car who promptly ran over them leaving the driveway -- BACK TO NERD GLASSES lol. By the way being a NERD isn't all bad; he pays more in taxes than I make LOL. |

I leave my Range in all the time, but the other day while cruising at 55mph on a long straight road, I did see the display say I was in V4 mode, it was cycling back and forth.
Does that mean it was trying to cycle and the Range stopped it? |
