California Stingrays Summer Cruise To Hearst Castle

https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...ba42d898b9.jpg

The California Stingrays Car Club is putting together a Summer cruise to Hearst Castle in San Simeon CA. This will be a two (2) night stay in San Simeon. Cruise in on Friday, July 19th, visit the Hearst Castle on Saturday and return home on Sunday the 21st. If you are interested in joining us, you must book your own room. There are plenty of motels in this coastal region, but rooms will be hard to come by, at this time of the year. Reserve your room early, as most of the motels have free cancellation about 48 hours prior to checkin. All year Corvettes are welcome and you don't even have to be a member. More details will be posted as time passes. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

Excellent! If all goes well I may be able to make it for my first ever Corvette Cruise!

The final staging point will be Gilroy. (at least for the nor-cal cars) I plan to be at McDonalds, (in Gilroy) around 11:00 / 12 noon for lunch, There we can decide whether to take coastal one, or 101 to San Simeon.

McDonalds, 6990 Automall Parkway located in the South Valley Plaza Shopping Center, Gilroy

For those coming from the So Cal area, someone should take the lead and plan a route.
I'm thinking that we should be in San Simeon around 4:00 pm

Stay Tuned . . . .

Thanks for the info. The wife and I plan on being there. We are thinking of camping instead of a room. We love camping. When we flew to Texas to do the 2 Six Flags parks there we stayed at an awesome camping site between the two. Haven't been camping near the beach in Ca yet though... Most of our camping was either while Jeeping or doing our medieval recreation thingy...

Has anyone camped in San Simeon in July? It seems like a good time to camp near the beach... Anyone else interested?

OldCarBum 02-13-2019 07:02 PM

Been camping most of my life and spent some time camping at Pismo Beach, which is just south of San Simeon.
It can be nice or it can be bitter cold and windy, even in July.
There are a couple of companies that rent travel trailers around the the area that will deliver and set up a travel trailer at one of the RV parks on the coast.
Prices are reasonable and the trailers I've been in are pretty nice.
About the only place that allows tent camping will be the State campgrounds.

Thanks. I did a little research and I think we will be trying to stay at the Washburn primitive campsite... we'll know for sure as it gets closer....

Now I just need to finish my interior! :-O

I'm a little envious of this trip! We used to come over regularly to Cambria, just down the coast, with Corvettes of Southern California, every November. Haven't been able to make it since 2013. We love that part of the world! The Sea Otter Inn on Moonstone Drive is our hotel of choice.

Go just a little further south, to Pismo Beach, for Splash - "The Worlds Best Clam Chowder"! Yum yum!

Hope you guys have a great weekend!

Splash is still the worlds best clam chowder.
The Cambria Pines Lodge is another nice place to stay.

We're in for the fun!

Jim and Lind Reed from Valley Springs are reserved at the Sands and will meet anyone from Sonora to caravan to the Gilroy staging area... Please share Sonora staging info.

I am going to try to make it up from the south. Where are my SoCal brothers?

Absolutely! Actually, we stayed there on our very first visit to Cambria, way back in 1993. If only Splash shipped to France:lol:

Hope to run into you at the Cruise.
