Inventory of New Corvettes Grows to a 232-Day Supply

From CorvetteBlogger

”Inventory of New Corvettes Grows to a 232-Day Supply with 9,000 Available”

With declines like this is it may force the team at Bowling Green to pull up the release of the C8 if possible.

And yet, any number of n00bs, claim; "I can't find what I want."

..So, they're advised to order a new one. Then, they don't want to order a new one.

Should be something out there for just about anyone looking to buy a new C7.

Finally, someone who 'Gets It'. Over on the C8 there are multiple posts stating that the delay introducing the C8 is to allow GM to sell off the backlog of C7s. I've tried to explain that its just the opposite. If the C7 isn't selling, then get the C8 out there. Whatever is causing any delay in revealing the C8, it isn't C7 inventory.

I had to order one because I couldn't find a manual vert.

Me too, and anything other than 1LT or 3LT and black wheels.

Corgidog1 02-19-2019 08:39 AM

I bet there is not 1 3LT vert in a stick in stock. If there is, then it was a customer order who declined pick up.

Buyers market for sure. Will encourage them to step up C8 timelines.

I hope GM announces some good incentives for March....

If you seasonally adjust for the fact that January sales reported have only been between 5.00% to 5.35% of annual sales the last three years, with 800 January 2019 sales reported, you get more like 210 days. I imagine in the north and northeast, the weather also skews days on hand.

No doubt sales are down with the C8 on the horizon, but if C8 sales are allocated on recent C7 dealer purchases, as a dealer it may make perfect sense to get little to no margin on a C7, to get a C8 at a generous or over sticker initial margin.

I dont know about you guys but this is a big purchase for me and I want the car to be just the way I want it. I'm a little odd so the cars that most people want are not what I'm looking for and most dealers are not going to order them equipped that way. 9000 vettes out there and not one even comes close! go figure... plus, I want the experience of museum delivery:cheers:

7 months supply!

n8dogg 02-21-2019 09:10 AM

If there were going to be any incentives it would have been 1st 1/4 of the year. Not common for Chevy to incentivize Corvette/Camaro during Spring/Summer months. I hope we see incentives, it will help. But, if I had to guess, we wont see any until September and/or after an official C8 teaser/announcement.

When the first 2014 C7's were gettng ready to ship I think I remember the big incentives on the leftover 2013 C6's were in the spring and summer . . . .not February..

Your right. My 2013 GS was built in Feb of "13 and I picked it up in the beginning of April. MSRP was $64,100 and I paid $50k before tax etc..$3K Corvette loyalty, $3K GM rebate and $8K dealer discount.
