Guys who have the A&A kit!

Hey guys i was just wondering what kind of routine maintenance goes with this A&A supercharger kit? Also whats the dependability? What kind of numbers can you get with a stock motor a4? Think im going to pull the trigger on this kit tomorrow and was just wondering what everyone's opinions were on this kit. Thanks for the help!

excellent question subscribing !!

In my opinion its the best kit out there . You will not beat the customer service { Andy} at A&A will give you , he is top notch. I've owned 2 kits and loved them both , You should be able to reach 470-500 RWHP for starters depending on the mods you already have . Go for it and enjoy the power . You will love it !!!

Reliability on the stock motor will depend on the tune. Mine lasted 1500miles before it let go. Once the tune was analyzed, it was clear RMCR didn't know what they were doing and caused the engine failure.

Lots of info on this kit out there if you just do a search.

Cliff notes:

Great kit, very well made and great customer service.
Power levels and reliability depend on a number of factors including:current health of the motor, quality of the tune, type of fuel being used and how much you plan to abuse the car.
Maintenance includes replacing belts and changing oil if you get a self contained unit. Other than that, nothing really changes.

and if you're in an inspection state and need parts to have a CARB# there's only one choice.

Been running the V3 contained unit for 6 years....beefed up the valve train a bit with springs, push rods, trunions, and LT headers, alkycontrol single nozzle straight meth, upgraded HB, 60lb injectors, and Aeromotive fuel pump kit. Tuned by Mayhem Motorsports in Raleigh NC to a tad over 500hp / 8lbs of boost.

30+ mpg highway cruise and 500+rwhp when needed/wanted....

Been very reliable for me, couple belts wore out and change the head unit oil as mentioned above with ea oil change.....

Getting the urge for more and looking to add a cam....

Exhaust & heads + Vortech on mine = 623 WHP. Running strong. Obviously also have the needed fuel mods.

damn BlackHellcat that's bad ass!!! Im hoping to get in the mid 550's! What trim and boost are you running?

donald4972 02-20-2019 08:42 PM

A&A SuperCharged Corvettes rock. You'll have the power to run with the big dogs, and outrun most of them.
As was said before, if it's installed and tuned correctly, many (like me) have ran for years, with no problems at all.

A&A SuperCharged cars, can run like normal cars, for daily driving (like mine), and then outrun way more expensive Sports cars
when you want it to! Increased traction will become necessary.

All Sports Cars should run like a SuperCharged Corvette.
Go for it!
Don

Thanks. That's a good run on these parts. I am always interested in knowing miles vs time ran on aftermarket parts.

Mileage still doesn't even begin to tell the whole story. It could be 30K miles of highway cruising with zero WOT pulls, it could be 30K miles of dogging the hell out of the car, it could be somewhere in between. It's nice to hear that people run these kits for so long without issues on an otherwise OEM motor but it's only one of the many data points needed to determine real world reliability. The kit itself won't change reliability, its all in the tune, the maintenance and your driving habits.

Great kit, I have 5 years on my 97 M6 and no problems. Dyno sheet was 536 hp, 476 tq. Added a boost a pump and 62 lb injectors, also installed a 700 hp Monster clutch, pressure plate, and light weight flywheel. As many have stated durability depends on a good tune with good AFR thru out the entire rpm range, and how you are going to use the car, spirted driving, or racing.

Just for clarity, because porpoise above has a valid point for sure...

In my case, that 35k includes I think 3 or 4 HPDEs, probably about 50 dragstrip passes, and I don't always drive it like I stole it - too worried about tickets...not to say I don't get spirited now and then but not constantly beating on it...

Are you tuned on the original 1997 PCM? any special changes because of that? how about the fuel system on the 97?

mmartinez 02-23-2019 04:49 PM

Tuned on the original 97 PCM, and orginal fuel system with addition of BAP, and as stated previously 62lb injectors. No problems other then it tends to buck sometimes if your going to slow in traffic and I have to downshift, I have heard that it can be corrected by the tune, I just haven't taken it back to my tuner.

2004 Z06 with a V3 unit that was installed 2009. At 33,000 miles and the car is a beast. Perfectly streetable, but can get out from under you if needbe :) I have headers, full Corsa exhaust and everything else is virtually stock. Very reliable and would recommend for sure.
