Is It Worth It?
 

I've been looking at used Grand Sports for a couple months toying with the idea of upgrading from my current '05 coupe. I want 3LT in IOM if I can find one and finally I did. The car looks brand new in pic's and has some show car dress up bling under the hood (that I don't care for). The problem is the price, asking $39,800, it is 1 owner with only 5500 miles. That is at least $7k more than I have been looking at. KBB says it is priced correctly, which I question. I have seen plenty of GS with less than 25000 miles for less than $33k. I have no doubt this is a beautiful practically brand new GS but would any of you pay that premium for it? I will continue to watch it but I'm not paying that much!

$39k is high for a GS, regardless of mileage. Like enventr said, come in with a reasonable offer.

A seller can ASK whatever price they want for a car. It doesn't mean they're going to get it. This one is obviously overpriced because the owner is putting too much of a premium on low miles. If the car still has the original tires, which is likely, you're also looking at an extra grand that would have to be spent to replace them. You can use this to bargain the price down.

Ed is right. The factory tires are garbage, be sure to check which ones are on the car. With that low of miles, likely never changed. Another example of an overpriced garage queen. Good luck with your offer :hurray:

I dont think that's a bad price for a low mile, well optioned car. Maybe a little high, but it's in the realm of asking. I'd say it lands at 37 if it's not anything special like a CE or 60th.

Dont discount the price variations between a ragged out 1lt and a very nice 3lt. People on here often do, but in the real world that's not the case. 1lt fo cheap because they lack a lot of basics, and when buying a nice car, people will spend a bit more for those features.

My bit of advice - buy the car you want. Screw the price, it's not that much money big picture. Happiness with your car is worth more. Your initial estimate for price was WAY wrong, so throw that out too. What matters is, will you still be happy with the car at that price, ignoring what you thought it should cost. Happiness is the key here, otherwise you just end up trading again, and sometimes you cant find the car you wanted again.

From my research at the end of 2018 that is actually priced a little low if it has all the good stuff on it. 2012-13 GS coupes with auto, chrome wheels, 3LT with under 10K miles were listed from $40-44K.

It is on a used car lot, not a Chevy dealer. I am pretty sure it has original tires.

I talked to them on the phone, typical car salesman b's. I'm not making an offer just keeping my eye on it for now.

The $39K is the asking price. If the car is exactly what you want then it may be worth a little extra to buy the car. Make an offer to begin the negotiations and see where it takes you. The worst thing that could happen is you have to pay a little more but you need to decide how much more.

I will disagree with you, I have seen several nice 3LT GS sell in the low 30's recently. I don't think my budget is WAY off, but it is low for a 5500 mile car.

The car is 2012, M6 no auto. I'm still waiting on them to send me a pic of the service parts tag. First guy I talked to told me straight up he didn't know how to do it.

You'll find the manual will bring a premium over the auto when used.
