You guys probably have seen me around here asking a ton of questions. Well, I'm not ready to stop yet :D

What do you guys think is the horsepower level where you need to get into different tires. I've got supersports now, do I need to get into R888's with 600 wheel horsepower? I dont want to get into a drag tire, I'd like to keep the road course 'idea" alive, if possible. What are some popular brands that arent marshmallows or borderline unsafe on the street (cup tires in the wet)

r888r should be good for that power

But r888r are basically just like the cup 2. Crap in rain or any bad weather.

I just have a procharger with the canned tune, guessing 525 hp. I bought an extra set of 19s and went with the 285 35 19 MT drag radials with the MT street comps up front. Still gets a tad squirrelly up around 115 but not too bad. Don't think I'd want to try the half mile with this set up tho lol. Mainly subscribing to this post because my plan is to buy the r888r for my 20s while keeping the MTs up front and run them daily. Not my DD so rain isn't a problem. The way these drag radials hook, I'm more than sure it was overkill for my set up but in all my research I just seen too many saying they still had a hard time hooking from a dig with anything else. My plan is to stop around 625 hp, then I'll start replacing cam and pistons

Thats pretty much my plan too. I've seen some youtube reviews where the M/T's spin a little bit vs the R888r's. My main concern is that they roar pretty bad. Someone said that they were going to try something different up front with the R888'r's in the back to keep noise down. Wish there was something comparable without the noise, but its all a game of tradeoffs.

Probably not what you were thinking, but I’m running firehawk Indy 500’s. 295 rears and 255’s front at 640whp and have been really happy with them. Great in rain and sticky in dry, plus they are supper cheap.

holy cow- Cup2 on a 40 degree day in the rain was about the scariest thing I've ever done in my life.


Anyway, I don't know why anyone gets R888R when NT01 is out there for the same price. Such a better tires all around (except maybe rain, I haven't driven either in much rain).

Not even close. Half worn R888R are really loud and annoying.

The Nt01's appear to have more tread than void, are they less noisy?

Yes but they will provide you with more traction then any tire other then a drag radial.

What kind of Mileage are you getting? It sounds like 10,000 miles is the top end. Which is fine, my car is a weekend toy.

I have Toyo R888's on my twin turbo mustang-making low 600's rwhp. When it's at least semi warm outside they really put down the power nicely with just a little wheel spin in 1st gear-no comparison to a regular tire. They do hum a little on the highway, but it's nothing horrible. And I've driven them in the rain, and as long as you don't do anything stupid, they are fine.. I'm thinking about getting a set for my supercharged grand sport, but at $500 a piece, I might just go for the cheaper Nitto NT05R's.

for noise? That's the first I've ever head of that.

No, i was saying they are awesome for traction, but i agree they are a little noisy.
