Just got my headers back from JET-HOT
I just wanted to share how the product looks. The details are, Kooks 1 7/8ths x 3" collector. I elected to get their top of the line "Ultra-Extreme 2500" coating in Titanium color. I think they came out great, and they were packaged very well. Total cost involved including shipping both ways was $825. BTW shipping well packaged headers is NOT cheap. The coating itself was $605, the rest was shipping and insurance. They have a really good coating on the inside of the tubes as well. As far as flashlights and eyeballs could get in there, there was a noticeable coating. Overall, I'm very happy with them. Time to tape them up and install them. Enjoy.

So yeah, I'm eager to get these on and hear/feel the difference. Video of the before and after will follow. I'm just waiting for a bit warmer weather to install as it's been cold and rainy for weeks now. Doing an exhaust swap in 40 degree weather is not fun at all. I just wanted to share the unboxing with the community. Can't lie, this video did work on me, even though it could be easily fabricated. (But I have my own pyrometer, so I'll find out really quick if it is a false claim) |
Appreciate the info and pics. Looks fantastic. What is going behind those? In for results.
|
Their own "green catted" X-pipe and connecting pipes. People may laugh, but I don't care...I'm actually going to run the Greddy cat-back because of the custom tip I'm going to fab up.
|
You're probably aware, but you'll have to do some fab work to get that Greddy system to fit the kooks mid-pipe, because the Greddy comes with its own mid-pipe, and they actually use a flange versus a slip fit where the mid-pipe meets the over axle pipes.
|
Yeah, I was aware...all good though. Exhaust fab is about as easy as fab gets.
|
Dang...something went wrong with YouTube links. I'll fix them later...if it's something I can even fix.
|
Those headers look really well done. I imagine you might get some smoke, unless the heat treatment with stands all of the heat from inside, and doesn’t burn off.
I haven’t heard the greddy system yet, I didn’t even know that existed lol.looking forward to the rest of your mods and installs! I know it’s not for everybody, but I personally like the sound. Let me know how the drone is. Never heard that before. I may swap the corsas for it eventually lol |
Headers look great. Im sure theyll last a good long time for you.
I bought my car with headers on it already and am still trying to figure out what brand they are! Cant find a tag on them anywhere. Oh well! |
Nice!
I put that coating on headers for my rotary engines. Rotary exhaust is insanely hot. Made a huge difference in underhood temps. |
What is the power gain on coating headers? May coat mine while I can get them out.
|
Maybe a couple horsepower from keeping more heat in the pipes for exhaust velocity. Main reason I did my headers was to keep everything else under the hood cooler and eliminate hot soaked starter problems.

And since I have to drain the oil anyway to do the headers, I figured, why not throw this on as well:
https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...3162965394.jpg what is it? https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...c7b5848d8c.jpg Improved Racing oil thermostat https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...2898c9b1b8.jpg I got the 212* version. I'm very excited to put this thing in and get my oil temps under control. It's a very well made kit, packaged well, and robust. Time will tell if it was worth it, but I believe it totally will be. |
Hello. I know its been about 3 years since the OP posted. Was curious as to how the headers have been holding up?
I am thinking of sending my Kooks headers for their 2500 coating as well. They have definitely gone up in price since then. Used to be about $600; its now about $850, not including shipping. |
Curious what the turn around time is also
Thanks |

IIRC turn-around time was about 10 calendar days from the day Jet-Hot received them to the day I received them back. Keep in mind, I live about 2 hours away from where they were coated. |

The coating has held up perfectly. Not even really dirty after almost 10K miles. No discoloration. They still look as good as they did when I installed them.
