WE FINALLY HAVE IT! The new V15-Z head units- FOR THE TRULY DEMENTED

Well, it’s finally here. No bragging about a product we “may” have in the future. We actually have the new V15-Z head unit in our possession. There’s been a lot of talk about this but I’ve kept quiet until I actually had one in hand. I didn’t want to make a big deal about something I couldn’t produce. I’ve even heard of shops taking deposits on a non- existent product for some time.

While I do have a unit here, it may be a while before I am able to sell one. I need to design a new inlet and possibly a water to air intercooler setup. The radiator will also need to be redesigned to do this properly. I want to have a fully functional system in place so you don’t have to start cobbing stuff together to make it work. I’ll try to get this in motion as quickly as I can.

Here are a couple of teaser pictures comparing it to the YSi.

I’ll have Josh post specs and possibly pricing as soon as we have them. For those with YSi head units, this might be an opportunity to trade yours in to step up to the V15. We’ll have to see how that will work out.

When do you want me to ship my car out there for testing? LOL

Pekka_Perkeles 03-07-2019 12:39 PM

Monster. Really.

I still like my tiny T-Trim that was installed over 10 years ago or so... :-)

Hell yea, let me know!! I just recently upgraded the fuel system and my 388 can handle this guy with ease. Trust me, I will test it thoroughly!!! lol

That is big, lots of fun to get it to fit I'm sure.... I have no doubt you'll make it happen though.

jbsblownc5 03-08-2019 02:37 PM

That's certainly a big blower, what is the CFM?

stevieturbo 03-09-2019 03:21 PM

Looks massive. Even bigger than the V4 ?

Whatever did happen the XB-110 ? Although a XB-105 would have made more sense.

Dang. Just bought my ysi too. Feels bad. Lol that thing makes a ysi look like a toy.

Just a quick update. We have two large water to air coolers mocked up in the left and right fenders, in front of the tire. They are rated at 1400 HP each, so there will be more than enough capacity for pretty much anything you can throw at it.

We're running a 3 1/2" Y out of the blower into 3" tubing to each cooler. 3" tubing comes out of each cooler to another Y and then to a 4" tube to the throttlebody.

The heat exchanger is 26 X 7 X 3 1/2 with a 2 1/2 gallon ice / water reservoir in the back of the car. I'm using a 1200 GPH bait pump from West Marine mounted directly in the tank. These pumps work great in this sort of application. A ton of water flow is key in cooling the charge air.

On the inlet side, we're running a 4 1/2" aluminum tube directly into the blower. I just need to find a filter that is big enough for street use.

This is looking real good so far. I think I'm going to make a similar setup available for the YSi when this is finished.

We're working on this between other jobs but it's coming along. You spend a lot of time trying stuff that you find later will interfere with somethng else and you have to go back and change it.
