Welp, pulled the trigger. Part 2 reborn!
For those of you that followed my first thread "well pulled the trigger" know that i had a 2017 grand sport, bought a maggy and long tube headers and x pipe, installed it and totaled the car a week and a half later. Didn't respect the car at all. First time I drove anything other than a truck since I had my 03 cobra back in 03. Learned a hard lesson.
I was able to remove all the parts off of that car. I bought a used 2017 z06 with 8k miles on it. Found the adapters I needed to install the LT1 maggy on my Z06 (thank you edgyette). Now I'm about to install them on the z. I can't wait to get this done. Definitely buying 18" replica wheels and installing 345/35/18 mickeys on it. the cup 2's suck, especially at 42 degrees, but then again most tires would. |
I like to think that I had a hand in moving this stuff over :D At least, planting the seed.
Congrats man, that will be a beast! Have you thought about Toyo r888r's? I have heard good things. |

Try driving the car without wrecking for a while. :-) |

That is a great outcome @samwint77 . You have the best in the world now. With the forged internals on the Z, you can crank up the boost right from the beginning. You will end up being limited by the cam on the stock Z. I can't recall for sure, but a buddy did something similar and I think he was running out of fuel in the 650whp range. Can't wait to see your results. If you add a cam and a little alky injection, I bet you can get that baby into the mid 800's pretty easy....

The great thing is I had already bought the 75mm pulley, so now I can install it and see what she does. I'm trying to line up getting it back in the shop now.
The 75mm with a manual transmission will be right in the 800whp range on e85. I don’t think you will be able to run that much boost without a cam or alky injection. I think without the cam, you will be octane limited at about 650-700whp with the stock cam. If you add a cam and e, you will be able to run in the 800’s pretty easy. |

cant wait to see. I have the 75mm pulley running 12psi on my car...the 70mm went to 14psi and had bad belt slip (but didn’t matter because Inwas out of injector).

Got my car set up to be in the shop for the 2nd week of april.

My grand sport goes in around the same time!

Congrats, Sam! I bet the new Z is a beast with the 2.3L Maggie!!

Well this all went to crap real quick. The PCV fitting doesn't match up and can't be modified to fit the LT1 blower on the LT4. sucks.....

I might have to start another tread about this build. It has really been a journey top make the lt1 maggy kit work on the lt4 platform. Needed adapter plates, new valley cover, may have some issues with the bolts for the cover of the maggy. Sense the adapter plates raised the maggy up about 1/2" the back bolts are gonna be tight to the cowl. May be hard to tighten. Also the way the adapter plates fit is weird. wwhen you bolt them up before the supercharger is bolted on you can see a gap under the adapter plates. Supposedly the intake or maggy forces them to seal against the heads when you bolt it up. I guess we'll soon see. Hoping its done this week.

Man, what a pain in the butt this has been. Had everything running, but found that we had a bad boost leak because of the adapter plates. They didn't sit correctly in the first place. Don't know if it was poor machining or something else. I wound up speaking with Andy at ADM performance. They've actually built 4 cars, 2 zl1's and 2 z06's with lt1 maggys and made them work. So I bought more adapters, mounting hardware, sealing washers and bolts. Basically everything they needed to make it work. So keep your fingers crossed for me.

Good luck dude. It will be worth it and then you wont have to worry about it. Mine has been in the shop for 3 weeks because they are so busy. Maggie left out parts in my kit, according to them, so they've had to deal with getting a couple coolant hoses and a bag of misc hardware.

Bump for results. I get my car back in a few days!

its official, she's no longer leaking boost. Making 12 psi with the 75mm pulley. initial pulls look like over 700 wtq, hp looked lowish. Had some heatsoak issues. tried to get a few pulls in towards the end of the day. we'll she what she puts down tomorrow.

Simply put, the Z06 cam sucks for making more power. That’s your bottleneck. If you swap the cam and add e85, it will be a night and day difference. Until then, congrats on the new setup. |
