Mechman alt?
Who's running them, and what amp? Looking at the Black ones as I am getting ready to add a stereo. Any down side with grounding (powdercoat).
Pics would be great. I'll of course pick one up from Brett as he is local to me., |

170 amp. Clocked so the plug/lead is at the bottom. Voltage never drops below 14.5V on the hottest days.

Looks great!! Our engine bays are similar. Nothing wrong with my alt... It too stays at 14V and it only has 30K miles... I just like the look... Thanks for sharing.

I just installed one after having repeat failures of the Power Bastards unit I had previously. That POS wouldn't last more than 3 months and it took them several weeks to "fix" it each time I sent it back. I'm hoping for better results with the Mechman and I had several people say theirs worked well. I don't have stereo, AC, heated seats or any of that stuff. I just wanted something that would help with the 60 + Amps worth of cooling fans I run and help charge the battery back up quickly after running the fans in grid before a run.

Black basic one. One failed bearings at ~3 years, replaced under warranty, new one going fine (when car actually runs). They cover grounding in the manual, as far if you coat it/etc you need to clean/grind off an area to ground, or run a ground strap from it.
180A is more than enough for any sane stereo system. |
