Got my 85 home

It's still winter here in Wisconsin so I had to tow her home. Found a 1985 coupe 4+3 manual in pretty good shape. Here's hoping spring gets here soon!

Very cool. Love the color. Digging the C3 in the back too.

Beautiful 85!!! Any special options such as Z51? Same color as my 86 and we both have the 4+3!! Do you know any of the car's history? Can't wait to see more pics of the car!!

Mixednuttz 03-11-2019 11:30 PM

Thanks! Unfortunately not a Z51 car, only option I had to compromise on. (I had a tough enough time finding a coupe that wasn't an automatic and convertibles just aren't my style.) Kind of hard to complain about that though, I've got plans for the suspension. I was looking for a project that didn't need body work. It needs to be cleaned up a little before I take a few more pictures. Got a little dirty towing it home.
Previous owner had ot about three years. Sold it because his girlfriend couldn't get in and out any more.

Funny, same boat that I was in when I bought my 86 back in 17. I had to compromise on the Z51. I really wanted a 4+3 coupe with the Z51 handling package. My grey car was the last one that I looked at and it was better than all of the others that I had previously looked at that day. Though not exactly what I wanted, I settled a little. Its been a good car and its a blast to drive. Will look forward to more pictures of your 85!!

Nice 85
It's funny trying to find a Z51 with a 4+3, hard to find. I would have thought they made more Z51s with a 4+3. The 85 I had was a Z51 with an A4.

Not really a C3 fan but it does look nice!

good looking 85 and I bet you have a ball driving it this summer. I would also like a c-3 but they have just gotten out of my price range.

Mixednuttz 03-13-2019 08:17 AM

The C3 is my dad's. I just have it because the brakes needed work and my dad can't do the work himself any more, so I repaired it. I'm just waiting for the snow to go away so I can test drive it and return it to him. I'm supposed to inherit it eventually. (Hopefully not for quite a few years yet.)

Congratulations. Is it medium gray metallic? It looks to be in good shape.

Let's hope for an early Spring so we can get back on the road

Yes, medium grey metallic with graphite leather interior. Needs a few things but overall it's in pretty good shape.
Looks like it's supposed to be 50° next week. Maybe the roads will be washed of all the salt soon.

That would be nice. Than you can finally enjoy that beautiful Corvette for a little while!

I have always been VERY particular about the C4 colors that I like but I like this color. The car looks good! Hoping for more pics when she is cleaned up! First C4?

Yes, first C4. I'm pretty excited!
Hopefully I'll be able to run the hose outside late next week so I can clean her up. I'll get some better pictures then.

It's still too cold to get a real good wash but I did manage to clean it up some. I did a few minor things over the week while I was on vacation, including replacing the brake fluid. (No problems, just preventative in case the fluid had absorbed any moisture. My dad's '76 C3 is in my garage so I could repair the brakes from that.)Roads are cleared up and it was 40° out so I went for a short drive. I didn't get a chance to test drive her before I bought her so I was a little nervous about that. (Yeah, a little bit of a leap of faith!) I'm happy to report that everything works as it should. She's pretty quick! Overall, I'm pretty pleased with my purchase. As promised, here are a few more pictures.

Damn, valve covers even look like new, very clean under-hood.
