Z06 brake caliper decal removal?
Is it possible to remove the "Corvette" and "circle" decals on the OEM Z06 brake calipers? I want to use them on a different vehicle where they would not make sense. I have read that they are painted on? Can they be removed safely without damaging the caliper paint?

on my 2011 GS they are painted, so they cannot be removed.

i hope this is a joke

Why would it be a joke to not want a Corvette logo on caliper that you put on a car that isn't a Corvette? Where is the joke? :toetap:

You could always send them out for a fresh powder-coat & rebuild (especially if you want a color change) at TPS motorsports, and just request the logo be deleted.

If your anywhere around Houston, I'll trade you. I have some that the "CORVETTE" wore off and the red is in great shape. Text me and I'll get you some pics. I would like to see yours too.

I posted a reply earlier today, but it does not show up in the thread even though the thread summary indicates that I replied. Odd.
Anyways, to follow-up with v8sten, I live in San Antonio but I am originally from Houston. The issue is that I do not yet have the Z06 calipers. I was trying to find out if the logos could be removed prior to buying a set of calipers - used or new. Based on what I have read, it seems the decals are painted on top of the calipers, but with usage, the decals will eventually rub off. This makes me think I can use some brake cleaner or some other solution to rub away the paint without necessarily damaging the underlying caliper color. |

I might go this route, but I currently do not actually have a set of calipers. I am trying to decide on the best course of action.
They mentioned to me before that they can do custom colors if you don't see one to your liking on the website. |
Shawn Ellis at Fourth Circle Designs makes the corvette stickers. I think I paid like 16 or 17 dollars for a set to fit all four calipers, exact match. The corvette paint on mine are wearing off, and I planned to put the stickers on.
http://fourthcircledesigns.com/conta...540db7007e65a0 He doesnt have them on the site, so you’ll have to fill out the contact us form if you wanted him to cut some. |
I decided to purchase a set of new OEM calipers (yellow). I will use some brake cleaner or paint removal solution on them - carefully - to remove the painted logos. The calipers are powder coated, so I am hoping the paint will come off well before I damage the powder coat.

Could always use G2 and just paint right over them. No damage, and any color you want, even paint code matching,
