LT-4/LT-1 Water pump seal Question
 

I just replaced the Water Pump drive seal on my Lt-4. After looking at it I noticed that the outer yellow seal has a very very small very fine nick in it where it joins the shaft. My question is this. How critical is the yellow part of the seal? does it indeed seal oil also or is it more of a dust cover for the inner black seal. Im not keen on taking it apart again if the seal is usable.

If you still have it all apart I would replace it for piece of mind. But, they will all start to leak again eventually.
