Service Manuals ? what are you guys using ?

My 04 now has 235K on the clock and of course has a few things needing tending to.

I don't find the usual Chilton or Haynes manuals available. I did a quick search and it looks like Ecklers has discontinued selling them and none available on ebay. Just wondered what folks are using for a shop manual these days ?

thanks
David

Have you contacted your main public library to see if they have the three volume factory set?

Vetteman Jack 03-13-2019 09:37 AM

I had a set of the Factory Service Manuals for my last C5. Hard to find something better for working on the car.

The Factory Service Manuals are the best for doing maintenance and repairs for your car. Keep checking the C5 Parts For Sale section to see if a set on 2004 FSM books come up for sale. The FSM's are year-specific so make sure you purchase the books for that year. It will probably be a 3 volume set.

Do a Google search- someone posted the official service manuals for free online.

Looks like the Haynes manual covers the C5 and C6 in one book...

Same.

I don't think I've used a factory or aftermarket service manual since the late 90s. There is so much information out there on Al Gores intrawebs.

Me too as well. Spent the bucks on a used set of factory manuals, but it's primarily this forum and youtube.

Kinda sounds like you need to run a few copies of that , you know in case yours gets lost

I have the two volume GM shop manual for 04 in excellent condition. Some light smudges on outside edge but still excellent. No ripped or torn pages. This is the red two volume set complete. I acquired a brand new set so I don't need two sets. PM me or e mail and I'll send picks if interested.

Gary In NM 03-18-2019 05:21 PM

Got the disc today, don't waste your money. very hard to find anything, seams to be lacking a lot of info, very generic. Going to buy the 3 book set from Helm's when I get around to having the money to do so.
