steering rack baffles, excessive leak or not?

I just got the Z06 back together after rebuilding the front end and replacing frame rails. I bought the car wrecked. The rack and pinion baffles were all tore up from the wreck so I just did inner and outer tie rods and new baffles. But I can't seem to get those baffles to seal up where they are banded to the rack. Is it normal to have that much fluid in the baffles or is the rack messed up? If I put power steering fluid in and run the motor it forces all the fluid out those baffles within a couple minutes.

From what I've read on the MOOG website the bellows should not have oil in them and the rack should just have grease in it. So I'm assuming my rack is bad unless someone can tell me other wise. Mine is dumping all my fluid into the bellows and then leaking out where the bellow seals to the rack. Anyone???

The bellows boots are not supposed to have fluid in them, they should remain dry. If there is fluid in them, the rack needs to be rebuilt because a seal (or seals) are damaged or are not sealing for some other reason (bent rack shaft, damaged rack shaft, etc). We can rebuild it for you, the rebuild starts at $300. If any other hard parts need to be repaired or replaced then the cost would go up accordingly.

Thanks,
Junior
