Ok, I see both. First get the open sometime in 2019 but when you click on the link on the click here link at the end of that paragraph it takes you to the notice about no date has been determined. If both statements are true that means the plant tours could start sometime in late December before the Christmas shutdown. Doesn't help much does it?

The NCM is a small private non-profit organization. Nothing on the NCM web site should be construed as coming from nor obligating GM. All we have here is a single errant page on the NCM web site that did not get changed when the word came down from GM that tours were suspended indefinitely. It's a nice little web site and I don't mean to criticize those who maintain it, but from a modern corporate standpoint, it is very "low key," if you will allow that term. Web sites can get away from you very easily. They obviously have neither the manpower nor the modern design tools used to keep a web site up-to-date and current to the last second. Look at the context here and give these guys a break.

An email from the NCM addressed to Lifetime and ‘Spire Society’ members were sent out this morning offering the unique opportunity to take a tour of the Corvette Assembly Plant during the NCM Bash on Wednesday, April 24 – Thursday, April 25th. The NCM will allow 100 VIP guests to get a sneak peek of the new plant layout as well as process improvements and efficiency changes that have been implemented. During the tour, guests will see the 7th generation Corvettes being assembled. “We at General Motors recognize that the customer is at the center of everything we do,” said Kai Spande, Plant Manager. “The culture of Chevrolet Corvette is based around the relationships we have with our customers. National Corvette Museum hosted the first ever Dealer Symposium Last week the National Corvette Museum hosted the first ever Dealer Symposium, inviting representatives from the top Chevrolet Dealerships across the country to join in on two days of experiences, presentations, tours and seminars hosted by the National Corvette Museum, NCM Motorsports Park and GM Corvette Assembly. The Symposium was limited to no more than 10 participants and was designed to familiarize dealers who had not been to Bowling Green recently with what the Museum offers. Joining for the inaugural event were:

Good for them! The museum! Self funded very creative way to make money.
Only issue I see....... they should charge more. Folks would pay to do that. Id suggest $800! Sure they can get even more. |

Assume they got some inside info, maybe tid bits to entice more future NCM deliveries - bet the % of new C8's will be selecting the option.

Whitmoyer Chevy on the above list is interesting as they are within 50 miles of me and are a really small combined Chevy/Buick Dealer. Their current ratio of 18 New Corvettes (All ‘19) to 89 total New Chevys (‘17-‘19) is remarkable. Sold 23 ‘18 Corvettes by end of 2nd qtr last year and were #46 at that time but dropped below #50 by year end. I visited them some years back and was surprised to see only new Corvettes in their 3-4 car show room at that time. They are really into Corvettes. Looks like I need to take a ride back soon. :flag:
Hey thanks for the kind words, Unfortunately Q4 of 2018 was a tad slower for us. After a recount of units we did end tied for spot #48-50 with 42 units.. Plus a few 2017 Demos which didn't count in our totals. Swing by sometime. Would love to chat. Matt |
Strike cost GM 2.9 billion dollars. Looks like the UAW got 100% of what they wanted except for the free donuts for their morning break. GM won that round.

What does that have to do with plant tours? Back to the subject of the thread: At NCM, the Corvette team said it's under discussion, no decision has been made, but the thinking is that opening up tours about the time of the Bash would be good timing. Whether the strike will delay that, we can only guess. |
