Now, do I like driving a manual, you bet. I have one in DD Mustang GT, but that car will never go on a long road trip. It has nothing to do with the size of your testicles (forgive me Lisa :) ). It's about what you want. I suggest you drive an auto C7 before you decide. That's the only way for you to make the right decision for yourself.

I live in the DFW so I know a thing or two about traffic. Maybe you ought to look at my sig profile page. I can't seem to enable it for everyone to view but we bought a new 2015 Z51 2LT Vert M7. It's hers...

I agree with you, that's why I laughed so hard at that post.

I've had both, and let me tell you, one of the best sounds is the auto at WOT. Hearing that bark is pure heaven!

For me over 600 hp I go auto. Under 600 hp stick.

There's one in every group.

One what? A lucky man married to a tall blue eyed Swede that grew up on the farm driving manuals? Who believes sports cars are manuals. Yep I'm that "one". It's ok, there's such a thing as beta females too.

Nah, rev matching...the old fashioned way...is pure heaven. Especially in my R. Something a Vette owner can only dream of hearing is shifting a flat plane crank at 8k+ Guess you could hear it on the sidelines...

Traded a manual for an auto, and was a key option. No right answer here and I hated to give up the manual, until I drove the A8.

Love the connection of a manual transmission, but I love driving the car more and in traffic the auto is a winner. I bought my car to drive on a regular basis and the A8 is actually a great match...

Manual

Wife and I both love the manual. She’s a modern day Norwegian shield maiden I guess
manuals till not driving anymore we are both 70 now

With the rev match feature and hill start assist, the M7 is basically an automatic that happens to have 3rd pedal!

yes, it’s been beaten to death but glad to answer...actually, I’ll scream it from the roof tops. I’ve always driven manual trans but went from a 2014 Z51 M7 and “settled” for an A8 Z06 in the color I wanted (DSOM). I drove it for almost 3 years and REALLY missed manual. Traded back into a great deal on a Z06 M7 and I love it! IF you love manual, don’t do it unless you have a life changing reason for doing so (ie: medical, back, knees or new traffic filled commute, etc.).

Glad that you like your wife, but:

A true man doesn't rely on his transmission for sexual validity, nor does he need to put down anyone for their choices (whatever their reasons).

BTW, I have always driven manuals, and I probably have more miles on a manual Corvette than 90% of the folks here (of either sex), and it doesn't mean shit.

Do you think you may have overestimated the effect of rev match and hill start assist on the art of shifting?

Hate the Rev Match. I absolutely never use it. Hill start assist is a feature I do like tho. However, sometimes it's on and other times it's off. It's a bit inconsistent if you ask me. So, one must always be prepared to not have it. AND LOL at your comment. Clutching and shifting using the third pedal is basically the same as having an auto? Makes me wonder if you've ever driven a manual... Cuz timing your feet, with rpm and a shifter is the same as pressing a steering wheel lever even if Rev Match is on... OH OK. Please refer back to my original comment in post 13.

ALL sports cars are two things, and always have been; A) convertible, and, B) manual stick shift transmissions.

dvilin 03-17-2019 04:02 PM

I prefer the M7 and test drove both before deciding, suggest you do the same and go with what you like best. Many reasons for choosing one or the other the important and smart decision is your choice of the Corvette.

Correct.

..Rev Match and Hill Assist aren't automatic transmissions. That's just nutty.

His response was really uncalled for..Its one thing to state your beliefs but that was over the top... He was being a Dick... Auto's are faster too!

I've reviewed my postings and nowhere have I equated better sexual validity being tied to a manual transmission. I do believe another poster kinda ran off in the head about testicle size and what not. So which is it that you must have gotten? Lazy or boring. Or both. If you've suffered some kind of incapability then my apologies and admiration for still getting out there in a great car. I guess if I couldn't clutch and shift, I'd do the same.

It's frustrating to see manuals disappearing from the modern car scene. One could offer a hundred reasons why but really I think it has in part to do with newer generations hitting the EZ button.

Nope. Definitely not. It depends on the driver.
