If C8 is Auto...What will you do?
If the C8 comes out in automatic only, what will you do....

Not buy it!,

There are several threads in the C8 section on this topic, were it has already been beaten to death. You might want to visit there.

I don't regret my choice of getting the GT's but a part of me always kinda wished I got the Comp seats. Mostly b/c they look cool.
|
The idea is to have one of every generation, so I'd still buy it.
Not getting rid of what I have though. |

I wont buy one if it does not have an automatic.
|
I would take it either way. Auto or manual.

^^^What he said!
|
Have to take it for a test ride before I say one way or another.
|
Well first, I'd go over to the C8 General Discussion and read the thread, opinions and speculation...

Nothing. I’m waiting for the self-driving C9, so I don’t have to shift gears or steer.

I am tired of pumping on a clutch pedal that only lets me change gears. I want one with an automatic clutch that lets me change gears without moving my leg up and down. That frees up the leg to do left foot braking which can decrease lap times. On the street it would be a dream to have a direct drive transmission that doesn't require pumping the clutch pedal especially in heavy traffic that is creeping along at 4 or 5 mph. As for rowing the gears the paddles let you do everything the stick through the floor lets you do with the flick of your fingers. The stick through the floor is nothing but a gear selector and that is what the paddles are. The differences between what the C7 has are two. No clutch pedal and no torque converter. Can replace two transmissions with one and keep all of the best features of both except for the variable gear ratio inherent in torque converters which helps with a standing start. Manual drivers gain quicker and more predictable shifts and don't give up anything while drag racers using the current auto trans give up the ease the torque converter gives them to launch the car.

Wife and I took 13 hour trip, No issues. I was concerned when ordering comp seats but will get again! |
Pass.
Rather a 6-speed Gallardo instead. |
The C9 will not only shift faster than humanly possible, it will steer and brake better than humanly possible!

I would very much prefer my C8 with the third pedal after the A8 I had in my 2016 Z06. No complaints about that automatic transmission at all, relatively smooth during normal driving with lightning fast shifts under hard acceleration. I can fully understand why many guys love this config. especially if the car is a daily driver in traffic. The automatic took most of the fun out of the car for me.
