Chalk up another engine failure
2019 GS, 2,488 miles
Driving along at around 45 (in 5th), heard a pop and then a loud ticking noise. This happened about 2 miles from leaving home (fortunately?). Limped home and noticed car would madly ping if too much accelerator used. Time to call flatbed in the morning for trip to dealer. I suspect it either dropped a valve, lost a lifter or a rocker... |
Sounds like broken rocker. Neighbor had this happen on his 2015 when it was still fairly new.

Seems like most the small number of LT1 failures have been cases of infant mortality. There are an awful lot of high-mileage LT1s out there now. It's not unusual for manufacturers to get a run of bad parts every so often.
Good luck on a quick warranty fix. |

Have you been red lining the engine? Driving it hard?

Are they getting any internals from China ? Not trying to be funny but there is so much JUNK coming out of there.
|
Indeed. This why it's very important to actually drive your new Corvettes - so that this doesn't happen out of warranty. Excessive garage queening, won't expose the car to what it was built for - being driven!
|
Oh, didn't throw a single error to the DIC but I'm gonna read the OBD-II and see what that says
|
Not surprised. It was functioning perfectly until something broke. The same thing happened with my LS7 failure about 10 years ago. I was cruising along at highway speeds spinning under 2K rpm when all hell broke loose.

Wow !!!! Didnt you just take possession of the car in Nov. 2018

Did you purchase new or used? If the latter, I sure hope the previous owner didn't go after-market tune.

I know these things happen and I'm sure it'll work out smoothly (my dealer has 2 certified 'vette techs, has for years and I have a VERY good relationship with them, going on 15+ years now) |

I know that I've had a tendency to trade off when big repairs have been done on previous vehicles. I always want to move on. ..Maybe Ken will lose interest in this particular car and just buy a new one. Sometimes these cars are Jonahed, and ya gotta start over. .. I'm somewhat at that point with my diesel coach (RV) - I just might want to move on. Although I have owned it since 2003 - only 101K miles.......so maybe it's time? |
Ken that's what you get using that 0-40 oil.... Seriously, glad you're covered. Think new engine or rebuild?
