1968 Convertible (Base)
3 Attachment(s)
**SOLD**
Gentlemen: I've decided to put my 1968 Polar White Convertible up for sale. At this point in my life I just have too much other stuff going on and don't have time to drive, or work on it, anymore. I'll give ya some of the particulars and you can read the attached appraisal report from last summer for more info. As per the report, the stated market value and sale price is $22,500. CAR HISTORY My ex-wifes grandfather was a fighter pilot serving in Vietnam in the spring of 1967. I guess he wanted a new Corvette so he went to the Chevrolet dealer in Saigon and ordered a 1968. I have a book full of documents from the dealership, some of them can be seen in the attached appraisal. As it was back in the day, there are several type written letters between him and GM concerning the ordering and picking up of the car. In October 1967 when he returned from Vietnam he picked the car up at Community Chevrolet in Las Vegas. He later moved to St Pete, FL and that's where I first came across the car. He was getting up in years and in 1997 I convinced him to sell the car to me. It been in my possession or the last 22 years. I have receipts for a lot of things he replaced on the car, including the paint job in 1983, the engine rebuild @ 98k mi. to run unleaded and most every little piece part that was replaced. I've kept receipts all thru my ownership. 327 cu in/300hp Numbers matching Polar White ext/Bright Blue int 4 spd manual trans Air Conditioning (currently off the car) White Top (needs to be replaced) Radio Delete (plate installed in center console/no ignition shielding under hood) Converted to Pwr Steering back around 2001 VB&P Fiberglass Spring 4 wheel disk brakes - standard (not pwr brakes) Currently running chambered stainless straight pipes but have replacement mufflers and original exhaust tubes Carb rebuilt a few months ago due to leaking inlet fitting The car by no means is perfect, it need some attention. As stated, the convertible top needs to be replaced and I have an Al Knoch replacement on hand. The air conditioning compressor needs to be rebuilt but I have all the lines and components boxed up. The appraisal shows the old interior, I replaced the carpet with new so It looks much better. The paint is what you would expect for 36 year old lacquer. It needs to be touched up in places or re-painted. I have some extra parts, some new but most are ones that I have replaced on the car. PM please if you are interested, I can send more pics or set up a phone call to discuss or answer any questions. Thanks for looking! (I'll post up more pics later, trying to get this done at work) https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...b8dd975272.jpg |

Price reduced to 20,000. Carpet has been replaced, the carburetor rebuilt, a few other little odds and ends. New tires on the front (235's) so no rubbing. The car is ready to go! Let me know if you have any questions. She needs a little work as described in the original post but its a well documented numbers matching car! |
Is it still available?

Wish I had the room, hell of a price for what appears a very straight original car! GLWS, I'd contact the Texas/ Dallas NCRS president, might help/know someone in the market. |
Thanks Corey
i’ll give that a try... |
Interesting. I was born in Denton and I am a US Army veteran of Vietnam. We really appreciated those fly boys. My youngest son currently lives in McKinney and is a buyer there for JC Penney.
That is great country for Corvette cruising! GLWS |
