My biggest concern about the C8 is fitting into it
I am a very big boy (6'3" tall, 320 lbs), and barely fit into my 2016 Z06 with the GT seats.
I planned on moving up to a C8, but I am worried about the driver''s seat and related measurements will prevent me from fitting into the car. When I went from my C6 to C7, there was quite a reduction in interior space on the C7. If GM does the same with with the C7 to C8, I am sure I will not fit into it. Does anyone have insight into my concern? |
The interior space of the C8 will likely be similar to today's C7 convertible. As for the seats, the leaked interior photos show a different seat cushion layout, but the overall dimensions seem similar to the C7 seat. BTW, it's a good thing you stuck with the GT seats on your C7, because if you're having trouble with them, you would never fit into the performance seat. The perf seat is great, but they did not provide enough lateral adjustment so it's not for plus-size people.

C8 Seats
I too am holding my breath on the interior room, but the trend from the C5 to the C7 has been less room, so I doubt they will take a giant step towards increasing it.
|
The assumption that the C8’s cabin will be tighter than the C7’s is wrong.
|
I'm 6'3" 260... I fit in the C7 fine (many don't know how to adjust the seats with the seat stop sensor under the rear carpet). I am hoping they make the cabin a little roomier with the mid engine.
|
Based on the pics so far, I'm assuming the C8 interior will be more or less along the lines of the C7's dimensions give or take an inch here and there.
What worries me is that center tunnel seems pretty damned wide for a MR car, any MR I've been in the center was thin and the door stills were massive (with an exception to Porsche, they still have normal sized stills somehow) |
^ I think Chevy is planning for a future hybrid so maybe a battery pack goes in the tunnel? I agree it's a bit wide for a ME car. Maybe they did it to give the car sufficient backbone for the open top aspect?

Nsx
I hadn't really given much thought to the size of the C8 interior space since I fit pretty well into my C7 ZR1 at 6' 1" , about 245lbs
but a few weeks ago at Amelia Island they had a couple of Acura NSX cars displayed on the golf course that you could try on for size and it didn't fit me too well. trying to get was hard, but getting out was damn near embarrassing ....... Now that it is on my radar I sure hope the C8 is bigger than that NSX.......... |
Really?....there are MORE important things in life to be concerned about. At 6'3", GM has all the stats to make sure you fit. Barely.

I still don't understand how you guys who are well over 6' can fit comfortably in a C7.
I'm 5'10" and 235 and it's a tight fit for me. Getting out of the car always causes me to curse like a sailor... |

I'm 6'0" and 330lbs, the C7 fits like a glove.
Then again, I've only ever owned sports cars. |

I knew the GT seats were the way to go. I tried to sit in the competition seats in a C7 on display at the NCM back in 2015.
It would have been a huge mistake for me to go with the completion seats.

Do what you did with the C7. Once the C8's are in the showroom go and try them out. Try both the standard seat and the new competition seats. If neither works for you, you can also get a pampered C7 ZR1 for your next ride. You really can't judge and predict how much space will be available in the C8 (yet). |
Tall people have to move the seat forward first then get the seat base all the way down with both adjustments on the bottom button. Then you want to incline the seat back. Then move the seat all the way back and finally recline it. What often happens is the seat back touches the seat stop sensor before the seat is all the way down this prevents any further movement in any direction reward or down

I have a C6 and a C7 now and I had a C5 before those. I just don’t understand for the life of me why they keep shrinking them down smaller and smaller with each generation. I don’t care what anyone says, being 6’7” and 190, the C6 is still far more comfortable than the C7. Seats are more comfortable by a long shot too. If they make the C8 1/2” smaller on the inside in any direction, it’s a no go for sure for me and I think a lot of other folks too. They should have kept the interior dimensions of the C5 IMO, and just upgraded and updated everything instead of making it smaller.

That wide/high tunnel/center console from the spy shots is unfortunate. One of the nice things about the 458, is the low/narrow center console - with it's simple control buttons for the gearbox, etc. That low/narrow console give the cockpit a comfortable, open feeling. Chevy should have copied that idea, because Americans are big.
