61 Hardtop small overspray clean up on plexi
 

Paint shop messed up and I have a 1/2” little white overspray on a side window.

Before I even play with it, I want to do know what can be used on it that wont screw up the plexi?

I would gently wet sand the affected area with 1500 grit (or finer) paper and then polish with polishing compound or one of those plastic headlight polishes.

I’ve used 3M Finess-It with very good results. Most marine and boat stores will have it.

I did my 64 rear hardtop plexiglass with Meguires PlastX, a very fine buffing pad from Hex-Logic and a Porter Cable ro polisher. Looks like new except for a couple of small but deep gouges.

A clay bar with some spray detailer works well.

Standard household Brasso brass polish with cotton balls and patience.

Takes a little while but will not scratch.

If all fails, the glass is not to difficult to replace. You would have to drill out one rivet at bottom and remove 2 screws at top. You can replace rivet with a SS screw, grind off top to remove screw driver slot and polish.

Seriously doubt replacement glass is needed. You can try the clay bar but that works best on hard shiny surfaces like clear coat, etc. Most of the other methods above will work but I start with the least aggressive.

Cloudy plexi happens a lot in the boat and aircraft fields and there are plenty of solutions if you look. I suggested a common one earlier.
