Canton oil pan drain plug gasket
I have a 396 stroker with a Canton Road Race pan. The drain plug is on the back edge on the right side. I never paid much attention before but there is a copper surface around the drain hole and no gasket on the plug.
I thought the copper was a gasket but can't get it to come loose. Didn't want to use a tool on it. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...72f6b7a0fe.jpg Is this a crush washer pressed onto the hole? Does it need to be removed? Couldn't find info on Canton's website but do see that they offer replacement copper washers. In the past, I just tightened the plug and had no issues, but have more recently followed service manuals for other engines I own which all say to replace the washer- some copper, some aluminum. Thanks for the help |
if its not leaking
don't f'k with it |
I got it. Tapped it with a plastic hammer and it came off. It was a washer and was held in place by the powder coating.
