Rustoleum R4 car wax

Anyone seen the ads for this in the car mags? Just curious about it. It's not really wax I guess. Ceramic? Nano-whatever?

I didn't see anything on their site. Can you share a link?

Whoops, sorry, it's called Factor 4.

Some detailers think it may be a Rustoleum re-branded product sold by other companies years ago: https://www.autopia.org/forums/car-d...ax-system.html

I looked at the SDS sheet for Factor 4. Other than one "proprietary" polymer, the ingredients seem like nothing revolutionary. I have NO idea how they can claim 3 years of protection, other than the line about "following their maintenance". That maintenance appears to be a silicone-based detail spray. Well, let's be honest here... If you apply a good polymer sealant to your car's paint, and you wash it regularly, and after each wash you wipe it down with a detail spray, you might get away with 3 years. I mean, it is the regular wipe-downs with the detail spray that are providing the protection, though.

They need to stop calling it a "wax", though. It isn't wax. It is a synthetic sealant. They use "wax" in the name so regular people shopping at Walmart aren't confused, I suppose.

UPDATE

Brian at Apex Detail tested this Rustoleum garbage. It lost to a $6 bottle of Turtle Wax spray. LMAO!
