6.2LS (L92)+6L80 for $4500

Nice price? The trans is 4x4 but post claims it can be converted for Rwd. Has PCM, wiring harness, accessories etc

Thats a LOT of money for a may be good setup. ..Id have a hard time believing that mileage for an 04. Good ol CL!

From the sounds of things he picked it up cheap doesnt know anything about it and is unloading. Sorry but imo the prices for used LSx stuff is WAY overinflated. For 5k +- you can get a fresh one, even stroked that makes some decent power now. No need for exotic stuff to make 500chp

Pretty sure you have to buy a standalone TCM for that trans. Then you have the fact that it's a truck motor, not an ls3. The accessories are different, the intake manifold is different, it would be a lot of work to drop it in. Plus that engine isnt exactly an exciting engine to drive. It drives like a truck engine, not an ls3. It also has afm si youd have to figure out making that work or disabling it.

It's a good price for someone who needs a replacement motor for their escalade.

That is pricey. I’d go for a gen 3 ls setup to avoid the afm. 6.0s can be had for around $1k.

If you're going to run a 6L80/90, that's the way to do it.. Use all the controls. 58X only. Wire throttle only. You'll have to pull the trans apart, but it would work.

Trans has a TCM, but it is internal. Moved there for survivability reasons, I am told.

I've got a 90 laying here I've been dying to use, but it is way too much modding to make it worthwhile.

Pukey motor matter of fact. Good thing is if you sleeve and stroke one its capable of big power but it costs a fortune.

stock 5.3s should be about half that. I paid $440 for mine nearly complete.

isn't it funny how EVERY engine/trans on craigslist is "Low Miles":iagree:

confab 04-13-2019 10:27 AM

There is a gambling aspect to it. But the fact that it includes computer and such may help indicate it is a legitimate take out, as opposed to bad parts which were replaced.

I know the last 6L90 I did here went 3500 bucks.. And that's just for the transmission.

The 80 is similar enough, and has enough parts in common, the cost would be the same.

So, if someone wants it and is willing to take a chance on it, that's probably a good deal if it works.

confab 04-13-2019 10:30 AM

If someone from this place buys that thing they have to promise to do a thread on the swap!

When you say nearly complete, are you talking about an entire engine (coils, rails, manifolds, wiring, sensors, throttle body, accessories) or a long block?

$440 for an entire 5.3 with under 100k miles is a steal, for a long block it is about right.
