could anyone here tell me what this yellow chalk number 142 means in the driverside firewall ?

I believe that is the 'Job No.', used to track the cars and components on the production line. They went up to 500, then started over.

it is the job number or sequence number
i think they were 1 to 500 then they repeated

Does the same # appear on the inside of the doors?

Not sure about the doors specifically, but the number shows up in several areas.

it may be on the dash pillars and on the inside of the door
