C8 and service??

I mean how good will Chevy technicians and mechanics be on ME car? Did they have enough training, etc....

Steve Garrett 04-12-2019 05:32 PM

No one knows.....the car is not out yet. Why ask????

The car was literally JUST ACKNOWLEDGED by GM YESTERDAY. Why would they already be shipping techs off to some GM school to learn how to work on the C8?

.. pick any Vette service dealer carefully ....especially if you live out in the sticks like me. No matter when... I’d be real concerned about even getting the oil changed at a local Chevy dealer who has a parking lot full of Silverados and might be lucky to sell a couple Vettes a year. Some of these guys don’t even know how to get the car up on the hoist without doing damage.

This thread wins the "premature question of the year" so far award :)

Lets hope but even getting to engine may be alot different

BEAR-AvHistory 04-12-2019 07:53 PM

Local dealer has 41 Corvettes on his lot. If his guys suck it will be an issue as the second dealer only has 11..

JerriVette 04-12-2019 08:07 PM

Paul koerner aka the corvette mechanic who does the seminars at carlisle and bowling green works at key chevrolet in middletown ct..

he is so good...he is one of the reasons i did not buy a porche or jaguar...

gm trains their world class gm twchs quite well and for those that knkw how to properly ise the 300k mile database to resolve issues there is no brand that surpasses excellence in service.

It'll be the same guys that were working on your C7's. Does that answer it?

No JOE BUT if your getting upset please move on or ignore this post. They WILL need ME training and Im wondering if GM is pushing these C8's out too soon and the mechanics/customers will be SOL...

Bvvet 04-12-2019 09:29 PM

Don’t buy the first year, has always been true

KOTYKB 04-12-2019 10:13 PM

After spending years on Rennlist and coming back to check out the C8 as a daily driver.... this forum is just as I remember, the most amateur questions I've ever seen. The car was just announced and YES techs will be trained, Chevy will make plenty of SOP's for the techs to utilize to maintain and repair the car, just like any new car.

If companies like Ferrari, McLaren, Lamborghini etc. hire new techs to work on their cars all the time, it's called training with instructions, Chevy will do the same. This car isn't a nuclear powered rocket, its a mid-engine car, its still an ICE motor just moved, what's so difficult to wrap your head around that it won't be that much more difficult to work on? I guarantee you've never turned a wrench on a car or you would understand this.

millpond 04-12-2019 10:22 PM

Rest assured that the techs will be properly trained by the time the first C8 hits the dealers. The training may have already started.

I purchased a first MY C6 and a first MY C7. Each car has only been back for service once. The first MY jink is constantly regurgitated, however (IMHO) hasn’t been true in decades.
