The look of a mid engine car/Corvette, etc

Judging from some of the negative posts about the way the C8 looks is confusing to me.
Yes everyone has a different personal perception of what looks good or not.
But that aside, what were some expecting the C8 to look like as a Mid Engine car !

I think it looks great considering what it looks like with the tight fitting camo and looking forward to see it uncovered.
IMO I don't think it will look much different except for some minor details hidden by the camo.
I'd say its retained a Corvette styling, which good or bad, separates it from the many other Mid Engine vehicles.

Just my thoughts on the subject :auto:

Personally, I'm waiting for the unveiling to determine if I like it or not,

Same here! I hope it doesn’t disappoint.

The design on paper does nothing for me, so hope to view and decide. I love the C7 design but the back not so much, a convertible would work.

In the 66 years of Corvette, there hasn't been one I haven't liked. Sure everyone has a bad angle once in a while, but I don't think anyone can deny, as a whole, Chevy has made a sharp looking car. These took me all of 15 minutes to find online, and yes, some of these are "modified" in one way or another, but the point is to show how perfect the lines of everyone of these generations are. Trust me when I say, we are in great hands.

Feel free to share this post on every thread started talking about how disappointed someone is with the design of the C8 before actually seeing it.

I pick C1, C2 and C7. Don’t care for those in between! Ready to see that damn C8 without any clothes on😏. Just like a pretty woman!

Jeff V. 04-18-2019 05:32 PM

It's just really weird to me. The side profile with the long hood and big rear haunches is synonymous with Corvette to me. The C8 just doesn't have that.

I'm sure it'll be a fine car. It might even grow on me. Lots of other cars have done that. Who knows.

jivor 04-18-2019 09:20 PM

I like what I see so far, the mid-engine look is definitely sharper. If my current C7's transmission holds up (A8), I may look into a C8 in 4 or 5 years, sooner if otherwise.

Wait, is this a positive thread? What happened to all the C8 negativity? Maybe I’m in a parallel universe? But seriously, thanks to all that made positive postings. I too am hopeful the C8 will be strikingly beautiful, like all the Corvettes that came before. Sure, the C8 will be different, but change is inevitable. Can’t fight the future! Looking forward to 7-18-19, and hopefully a new C8 in my driveway (eventually)!

+1

I'm used to the current proportions and like them. Long hood line, ability to see the fender arches from the driver's seat, and stubby rear end. Those are unique things and is what makes me like a Corvette over other cars.

Having said that, I hope the new C8 is a knockout when it gets revealed.

I've always liked the look of a Midengine car. And I've always liked the look of every generation of Corvette.

Seeing this revolutionary change to Corvette is a total positive in every sense of the word for me. I am truly ecstatic that I'm going to live long enough (knock on wood) to see the very first ME Corvette revealed.

God willing, I'll live long enough to actually own one as well.

C5 (Edit: decided to throw my own in here)

The C5 is better looking than when it first released. Funny how Corvettes do that. The most dramatic feature on the C5 is the rear quarter merging into the front fender. Common on ME cars starting in the Can Am days.

A round ME Vette in keeping with the C5 design with the same feature..

Charger was the first FE car to have the rear fender extend to the front. Stunning.

The C5 and 7 did the same.

C6 doesn't.

I don't want to be labeled as Shaka's biggest fan but I do like what he sees::: The Mclaren F1 is a dimunitive 2,500 lb three seat jewel that is number one on my list. The variation of the C7 fender soop is very slick and the black 69 Charger with the redlines and dog dish hubcaps is brutally handsome. The top Corvette concept was a missed opportunity.
PS - The rear flare on the C5 should have been factory on the Zo6 ::::::::::::: C6Zo6= One of the greatest of all time

Best Vette yet. May keep it for another 10 years.

C5=:ack: Thank God & Corvette that they got it right after 40+ years with the C7. Not since the 1977 C3 has the Corvette been a true Corvette. Prayers were answered. C8 will be a slam dunk success style  wise...

FinsterforstFan 04-19-2019 10:18 PM

I love the look of mid engine cars, just not crazy about what I see in camo, or most of the renders based on the camo. However, I am withholding final judgement until all the camo finally comes off.

My feelings on Corvette generations are...
MEH
MEH
SWEET!
MEH
SWEET!
MEH
SWEET!

They all have aspects I like...but I look at the C5 as the spiritual successor to the C3 and I like the C7 because GM decided to pull out the stops on the design.

I'm looking forward to the C8. I really like what I see so far.

Tom73 04-19-2019 10:42 PM

My personal preference is the design of a front engine car. But I am not holding that against the mew ME C8. Can’t wait to see the real car.

My only concern is what it is like to drive when you cannot see the front of the car. Due to the short drop away nose you will not be able to see any of the car past the windshield frame.

My favorite view is out the windshield of a C3 with those front fenders framing your view.

It's great you think it looks great. But relative to other mid engine designs (McClarens, Ferraris, etc) it's much thicker, heavier, and far less shapely in proportions. Both the mouth and rear are simply enormous--relatively.
