Crack in Paint
 

so last year i did a body lift to clean frame and repair rocker channel repairs in #2 & 3 body mounts.
it appears this must be a casualty of this lift. i do not recall this being there.
i found afterwards once i was doing a paint restoration.
it almost appears to be the clear coat only.
so my question is, if i sand down and paint is not cracked will i be ok to just reclear?
should i do any other type of preventative to this spot?

Could it be a scratch? You might try lightly sanding it and polishing it. If it is a crack, it is likely into the glass so you may be grinding out the crack beyond what you see glassing, filling spot priming and painting. The other option, leave it alone. Definitely, it it gets bigger, you will need to repair it.

Unfortunately, definitely not a scratch. i am about to start the process of painting my front bumper and light buckets and assessing a few chip and minor touch ups.
i feel digging into this will be more trouble than its worth. the paint overall is in really nice shape.

If you have determined that it is an actual crack in the body. There is really no 'easy fix'. I wish I could offer some magical way to fix this easily...because if I had one that I know would work and last..... I would be a billionaire by now.

I am assuming that this crack is on the top surface of the top hood surround on the right side above the wheel well opening.

No matter of what would be done ...obviously you are aware that painting would need to take place and that can turn this repair into a much larger job that just the crack.due to the paint would more than likely need to be blended onto the hood.....thus....the hood would need to be painted.
