Museum Delivery and paint protection
Is there any way to have the car XPEL'd at the Corvette Museum prior to delivery and driving it home?
|
I think I remember reading there is a shop in the nearby vicinity that is recommended. Beware of rush jobs though.
|
Get a novi-stretch bra for the trip home, then have your local professional do it. You don't want a rush job on clear bra and want a qualified shop to clay and buff the car before you apply it.

Agreed 100% with Tool Hoarder. Also, having had two of my cars fully wrapped in Xpel, having a somewhat local shop for touch ups and maintenance is key. Most good shops (like Automobilia in West Haven CT who I use) will fix/replace panels even a year or two later if something starts to peel or just doesn't look right. I wouldn't want to pay thousands to a shop across the country and not be able to take advantage of that. Sometimes it will take a couple of times washing the car before my eyes pick up on a minor imperfection and a quality shop will fix those things no questions asked. :yesnod:

What about XPEL tracwrap for the drive home? Would that be reasonable?
|
I would suggest a combination of Tracwrap on the top of the front fascia/bumper and edges of air openings and the Novi Stretch over the Tracwrap. There are quite a few curves and complex surfaces on the front fascia and getting complete Tracwrap on all of them will be tedious.

It may not happen. |
There are other dealers out there with allocation. Check some of the large volume dealers and I've seen some advertising build-to-spec allocations on Facebook C7 groups for MSRP.

Very cool. Fun fact: That’s a pretty close spec. to what I would get, which is a moot point since I was planning on ordering in Sept. - now too late to do so.

Thank you for choosing XPEL to protect your Vette. If you want to get it done at the Museum, tell them you’d like Rudy to do it. He’s with Auto Armor. Be sure to ask for wrapped edges and badge removal for a cleaner look.
TRACWRAP is also a great option. It would give you the protection you need for your drive home and you could leave it on the car until you make it to your local XPEL installer. Is this Auto Armor in Old Hickory TN? Does he travel up to the museum to do the install? |
Yes
