Beautiful looking 70 LS5 Vert you have there. Any engine compartment and engine pad Pics you can post will help with the sale of your 70.

Is 62.5K the mileage or the price?
Very nice car, GLWS.

Response to all 3 posts.

Thanks guys! The asking price is $62,500. The mileage is 83,500 on the car, but only 3500 miles on the engine. There are about 30 pictures of it on both AutoTrader Classics and Hemmings. I added more pictures today of the engine compartment, the restoration, maintenance record, and what I used for pricing. The restoration of the car is superb using NCRS standards. If you check it either ad today, it might take a day for the newest pictures to appear. The ad number in AutoTrader is 101130310.

NCRS standards allow headers now? Guess I wasn't aware that they changed that?

stingr69 04-26-2019 02:36 PM

L-82 converted to a 454?????

I don't know what the standards actually are, but the instructions I gave to the restorer were to put the car back together as stock as possible. Pardon my blunder.

Hi Stingr69. That's an error. Its a 454. I created that from an old document for another corvette we had, and just didn't fix that oversight. I just wanted to show the level of detail I had on the maintenance is all. For the most part, I have had some nice compliments on the car. I had to have the car put back together after my husband Larry died, so I am no expert on the subject of Corvettes--believe me! I had some help pricing the car and tried to do justice to the asking price by including pictures and information I thought would bring the best offer. No offers yet!

I don't know what the standards actually are, but the instructions I gave to the restorer were to put the car back together as stock as possible. For example, there were cracks in the hood, so I opted for a hood surround instead of a whole front clip so that the original bond lines would be retained. It cost me more in labor, but I felt that the car would be better to make those kind of decisions that would keep the car stock more or less. The paint is also over gelcoat. I tried to do justice to the vision my late husband had to finish the car. The car is fun to drive and sounds great too.

Larry,
Do you know if it is the original engine?
Any documentation, build sheet, dealer invoice, protecto-plate??

bradleyb66 05-01-2019 02:10 PM

Sorry for your loss - but glad you finished your late husband's project. I'm sure he's looking down with a big smile on his face, and the car looks like it turned out awesome.

As others have hinted at - most buyers of cars in this price range are going to need additional documentation, such as pictures of the engine stamp pad (in front of the passenger side head) showing that the engine is original (the number stamped here will match the vin of the car if it is), and also the trim tag in the drivers doorjamb to verify if the paint color and interior color is what it came from the factory with. It appears that the transmission might not be stock, as your documentation shows that it has a rebuilt 1971 transmission installed in 2000? If that is not correct, then a picture of the vin stamp on the transmission will help boost the sale also.

Best of luck with your sale.

I think these are the ads to your car you referenced:

https://classics.autotrader.com/clas...ette/101130310

https://www.hemmings.com/classifieds...e/2260857.html

Hopefully people considering this car now understand the seller is the wife of the person who owned it and is trying her best to present the car with less working knowledge than the Corvette experts here, so let’s temper the comments accordingly.

Good luck with the sale, and sorry for your loss.

Both ads linked by vettebuyer list the car's location as Ocala, Florida. Perhaps a CF member from Fla could put the seller in touch with a nearby club. She could get some direction from them to facilitate the sale.

No, it is not the original engine. I believe the engine is out of a 1971. The block was purchased from a man Larry worked with for 28 years. I have the stamping numbers from the block in my records, and w work on the block was done 3/11/1997. My husband has notes that read "burn, freeze plugs. Brush, blast, hone, cam bearings, cylinders bored, grind crank. Also rings, rod bearings, main bearings, head gaskets, and rear main seal." The receipt says "block special, crank polish, piston rings, rod bearings, main bearings, cam bearing." On January 29, 1997 there is a receipt for the purchase of 2 heads and Muncie parts. Heads were milled and rebuilt. The car is an adrenaline rush to drive. I considered the fact it is not numbers matching when I priced the of the car, but in my opinion unless you are purchasing a low mileage numbers matching vehicle where it sits in a museum is just plain missing out on the joy of Corvette ownership and the driving experience.

I just ran across the paperwork I still had for the L-82 and it was a 1976 corvette.

Larry3 05-07-2019 11:55 AM

The transmission was indeed replaced. The 1971 Corvette 454 transmission number is 392560. Stamped C11S119665 and P1H10B on transmission for 1971 454. Driveshaft 3921675 in yellow stencil paint on side in 1.1" tall letters.

Thank you for your condolences vettebuyer6369. I appreciate your kindness in asking people responding to the thread to consider my position as a widow. This vette was a major part of our lives. We were members of the oldest Dallas area corvette club (1958). I did go to a Marion County corvette club meeting but left feeling very despondent because most of the membership was couples. I made the announcement at the meeting that I intended to sell the corvette, but believe anyone that is actually shopping for a C3 will probably use the internet and not buy it on the spot. On-line auctions through brokers are not my first choice because most seem to want $500 up front and I'd rather put that savings toward the sale of my car directly to a buyer that makes a reasonable, educated offer. Right now it is love-bug season in Florida so I'm not wanting to drive the car and get it bug-splattered after the extensive detailing I had done. It's nice and safe in my garage but is still started regularly.

Larry3 05-07-2019 12:22 PM

There is no trim tag. Over the years the car had many layers of paint. The bottom layer was yellow under the many layers of paint as well as under the interior. Exterior paint was stripped down to fiberglass. I have all the restoration pictures, including all the tiny bags of parts I photographed to inventory before the car was picked up to go to the restorer J B Corvettes in Carrollton, Texas.

derekderek 05-10-2019 07:42 AM

OK, not orig drivetrain, no trim tag. No documentation makes this a low-30's car in my opinion. 60's buys museum pieces. Is there a son or other fam member who would appreciate this car?
