Interior painting

What is the best paint for vinyl dash? Lacquer or enamel? What is the best way to prepare the painting? Should vinyl cleaners be used? Shot with PPG last time now peeling, and touch up is not blending well with existing.

Using a DYE is better due to paint will harden over time can crack due to the vinyl. Cleaning it with products designed to clean vinyl is wise and some people use BULLDOG ADHESION PROMOTER to apply on the CLEAN vinyl prior to applying the vinyl dye. I have found that the quart cans of vinyl dye seem better than the stuff in the aerosol cans for large jobs.

The idea here is to apply it on as thin as possible. Or at least that is what I have found seems to work best instead of applying a lot of product on it and getting the film thickness too thick.

Who is selling the DYE?

PPG used to be able to mix up the color for interior panels.....check Al Knoch and Corvette America and see what they offer.

The main thing is to apply it on as thin as possible and do not get it too thick along with making sure it can bond to the actual vinyl. I have NEVER been a fan of spraying on colored interior panels due to they seem to be subjected to seeming to want to fail and having to do them again and again.....especially on those panels a that can have a lot of physical contact on them.

Rear compartment door fames are not so big of a deal due to they are hard plastic...along with some of the inner windshield molding trim/kick plates....but door panels and seat covers.....I generally do not waste my time on those and buy new.

I did a center console cushion that came out good. Clean the crap out of it. Corvette America dye. Thin coats as Dub said.
