80's Collectible Cars getting hard to find?

There is no better deal out there for the money, than a well preserved, or cared for survivor 1980's sportscar/musclecar, or specialty interest trim oddball car.

Technologically, these cars pioneered the OBD user interface, phenom of today. Unfortunately, most were butchered, by removing their misunderstood tech, in favor of simpler older systems. Although, practical, for those on a budget, and with little patience for new fuel injection delivery systems, the collectible value was destroyed in these once modern marvels of automotive innovation.

The 80's were a time of rebirth and optimism for Corvette, the C-4 can be argued to be the Beta-platform for today's C-7.
As the 2nd owner of an untouched, 1989 Z51, 6-Speed (First Year, I can attest to the reliability and thrill of performance that is enshrined withing the heart of that untouched, bone stock L-98 today in 2019, 30 years later!

I grapple with parting with it at a time when 80's cars are becoming extinct, for ultimately, rarity commands price in any collectible market. But, look past the appreciation potential with these Tilt Front End crowd pleasers, and sink in behind the wheel! Become a kid again, as you discover, that this is nothing more, than a high powered full-bodied extreme Go-Kart with a TILT FRONT END! For less that what you could pay for a boring commuter, and just as reliable too!

Many C-4's are still seen thrilling their savvy owners in traffic today in many ways:
▪No Depreciation
▪Musclecar rumble
▪Amazing handlung and stopping
▪Custom Car Tilt Front End to show off when checking the oil at the gas station
▪"Air in your hair" Targa Top or Convertible
▪Welcome at any Cruise Night
▪A Time Machine to listen to your 80's Hits in!
▪Reliable 5.7L, Heartbeat of America Power!
▪Monstrous tire shreadding bottom end torque.
▪1989 offered the amazing ZF6-Speed to carry through 1996! That transmissiin is a thrill to row!
▪THIS WAS THE PLATFORM that defined the ZR-1 Standard for handling and performance!
▪Prices are starting to climb, jump aboard and pick one up, as a weekend thriller, or as an Icon of the 80's!

Now is the time to snatch tbese up!

Good Luck as you consider going "Back To The Future!"

Man I want to buy it based off that write up, great job. I want another c4 but my wife doesn’t like them, hell she barely tolerates my c6, but I love them all.

My personal favorite is the C3. I hated C4's since they were first introduced, C5's no better. C6 began introducing C3 DNA in their styling, and brought me back. I bought the C4 purely for the value and for the 6-Speed manual. After having owned, and driven it, I am truly impressed with the "ugly duckling" of the Corvette Snob world. Dollar for dollar, smile per mile, you cannot find a more exhilarating and visceral driving experience with this amount of torque in a factory stock appreciating 'Merican Icon! The Tilt Front End style hood assembly, is impressive to open at the gas station, it really turns heads! No more a C4 hater. Must sell to someone who would give me first right of refusal should they ever sell this baby. No room for her right now. BTW, C5's are also a screaming bargain, but you gotta like round, and C1's have round mastered, IMHO. Best To All on this board, Happy Father's Day to all you Corvette Dads!

. beautiful vette !! I love the 80's cars .. Although my C4 is a 96.. My real baby is an all original survivor ,26k mile, 1983 Hurst / Olds.. A very special car that you just don't see around anymore..

Z51Dude 06-15-2019 01:09 PM

Your '96 is the most refined of the C4's! And that Hurst is a real find!

Those 80's milestone versions are to be collected, preserved,, and Driven! It's automotive history that serves a purpose! A/C, pwr everything, reliable, and very cool! Them 80's will always be a decade fondly remembered, for those who saw it transform the 70's.

plenty of them out there still couple of nice 89 and 90 6 spds on CL in socal

Still Many out there but...

True, First year 6-speeds are also Last year for the dash that wowed since 1984's. These rare ugly ducklings with full documentation will likely not depreciate, but exhilarate as they appreciate. Snag one in a sharp color combo if you can.
I will sell mine, if we can agree on giving me a chance to buy it back w/ all the history. Seriously.

I see more C2 in the C6 than C3 DNA. At least to me. Been to some car shows with my C6's and next to C2's and an old guy started pointing out things to me. Lots of little things I had never noticed. But u can see some C3 in it to some extent.
